You have a bunch of long time members who have years in this industry telling you that it isn’t a good idea and you haven’t bailed yet.

"Next your will load a back haul for the SLC area"
Then you'll have between 20 and 40 points on your license. That makes you unhireable for at least 18 months, probably 3 years. At least at reputable carriers paying a decent wage for the required work. Which means you stay put and try to keep your nose clean, but now the boss has 'control over you' and will likely pressure you to do some sketchy stuff. Or you get a non cdl job.
The worst case scenario is you get into a Werner Situation. You did nothing wrong, but the plaintiff can use the OOS defects on your equipment and the safety rating of the company and show negligence, possibly even criminal negligence. The owner will fold the company - he's protected by his insurance and his LLC. You'll be on your own to pay for a lawyer to defend you - even if you win you'll still be broke.
@D.Tibbitt posted a solid looking option. Ghost this guy and call them.austinmike, Rugerfan, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this.
