if you want long haul exclusively for the most part, why don’t you go to Holland?

They're on my list, but... they're from ND, and I haven't had the best relationship with companies from ND

I am pissed off, mostly because of what I feel is insufficient miles during what should be the busiest part of the year. I would be so bored running regional lanes, I don't know if I would stay trucking if that were my only option.

Ya know, it's getting hard to tell the difference between this thread and ChiTownSteers's thread. 30 years experience vs 30 weeks . . .

Those are definitely money makers then. Grocery DC is where it's at. That's all I do is short hops more than half of my paycheck is from activity pay. Plenty of easily achievable bonus incentives too. The past 2 years my gross wages divided by 140,000 miles driven is $1.60 a mile.

I know drivers that commute up to the max 250 miles but I'm not one of them. I won't work anywhere more than an hour from the house and won't move for a job either. In your shoes I'd be looking at LTL or other options.

Not at smaller grocery DC's. Out and right back to the home domicile every trip.

Runs like that would drive me more nuts than I already am...that kind of trucking would stress me out more than regularly driving rush hour traffic in NYC or LA

Let go of things you can't control there's nothing to stress over out here. Just guide that truck down the highway and let the fools around you act like the fools they are. Runs like that will keep you from forming blood clots in your legs. 600 miles a day sitting in that driver seat will take 15 years off your life. I like getting out of the cab a half dozen or more times a day and walking around. Walking around is the best part. If they're taking a little more longer than normal to get me unloaded I'll go do laps inside the store.

Back east i can see but out west even the grocery truck go out even 500mi simply because of the distance between stores compared back east..
