how I learned when I was about 12, by my grandfather, who had a broke neck and wore a brace.
I came over and noticed on the steps, there was a piece of metal lying on the porch steps. I thought, you know he’ll come down and trip, I grabbed it, and he’d been cutting and it was hot, seated to my hand and I couldn’t even toss it, just stuck and cooking, finally i got it off, my grandfather, whom I thought I was ‘helping’ came out and said, ‘Boy, I bet next time you’ll know if it’s not yours, and you didn’t put it there, you’ll leave it the heck alone.’

 

i dunno what he did, he was all over it, i got back out of his way, sat on couch.
