I'm out here on my first week of six for training and already missing my weights. I think what I will do (as a former carpenter) is take a piece of plywood and rim it with 2x6's just the right size to hold 2 dumbells in. That will sit on the floor and not slide around but will be at the ready anytime I want to pump up the blood to help stay awake and refreshed on those long hauls.

I've been walking for years. After settling in wherever for the night, I go for a brisk walk before I shower. Works for me

Going to a gym is tough. I've heard of drivers parking the trailer at a truck stop and bobtailing to a gym for a workout, but I've never tried it personally. On nice days, I jog, walk, or bike outside. If it's nasty weather, I workout in the truck. I carry dumbells with me, and also do some light aerobics and/or yoga poses in the truck.

I have been trucking for 15 years and am starting to finally get soft and fat!!!!! Do any of you carry weights or anything with you?? I used to be a big time gym person, but its so hard when you are on the road. Any suggestions. Not looking for beginner advice, pretty advanced, butneed some suggestions other than do 5 curls and a couple sit-ups!!!! Thanks

I'm a flatbedder...I have chains!
I do curls and flat flies with chains and I can also do tricep exercizes with them by lying on the deck of my trailer and doing pullovers. I walk briskly for a mile or two every day and eat better than I used to. Push ups can be done anywhere! It really take just a little effort and proper technique to accomplish substantial gains.
I'm a big guy and have always tended to be thick but I'm 55 years old and my blood pressure was 128/80 when I took my DOT physical the other day and I'm as strong as a bull and I feel as good as I did when I was in my early thirties.
It takes a little effort but it's well worth it!Aljay Thanks this. -
I carry dumbells. In time, I've figured out how to improvise most strength training moves to do them in the truck without a bench. A little creativity goes a long way. As long as you've got motivation, the rest will fall into place. You'll figure it out.
