When I attended the naturalization ceremony in KC in 2011, - 80% of the room were folks of the age about ready to draw SSI.
This was because of family based sponsored immigration - these were relatives of immigrants that were not going to actively contribute to the economy. Just rely on it’s social services, and support from their families.
Gretchen had to sign up for financial responsibility for me as part of the process after we married. Kinda funny, because I paid for her CDL training and divorce proceedings, and brought $160k to the US after selling my house in NZ.
My intention was not to move my family here, it was my choice to make the best of the opportunity.
Probably sounding like an a - hole now.
We have been invaded and here is the proof!
