I don't know, but that's what I was told at the unemployment office. I didn't argue, just walked out.

Ya I’ve heard that too. Makes absolutely no sense. If I get fired for sitting around doing nothing I get unemployment, but if I quit because I’m tired of harassment from coworkers I just have to suck it up.

I think it's a matter of planning. If you get fired out of the blue you may not have a backup plan. If you quit, that's your own decision and if you don't have a backup plan, it's your own fault. I think if you quit due to harassment, that's more a claim with the NLRB/lawyer than unemployment.

Trucking aside the job market is currently ####ed for everybody else. You see people recommending applying for hundreds of jobs a week in order to get a single interview in a month.

Good luck driver. It's bad out there and only going to get worse going into winter.

Guy at my last job got the axe after 14 years seniority because some jalopy methhead had scrap metal fall off his truck in the middle of the night going down the interstate, he hit a chunk of metal and blew out 2 tires. I saw the dashcam, was unavoidable; and they forced his old fat ### to work dock for 3 weeks while corporate "reviewed" the incident. Fired him anyways. Needed to downsize. He was the typical linehaul guy. Raking in 120-140k a year for a long time but living paycheck to paycheck. Wouldnt be surprised if the poor sob has lost everything by New Years.

I was in the position of no income and looking for a job after this spring. Took me 4 months to get hired onto a local fuel gig running 60hr weeks to make 65ish/yr in the Northwest. It's a ####ing bloodbath out here. These past 2-3 weeks we've slowed way down as well, I'm getting 2 <8 hour days a week now.

My father got laid off last month, couple girls I grew up with have been laid off, a cousin got laid off, riding buddies daughter got laid off, guy I knew through school I still hear from got laid off and had to move back home and work retail, old LTL barn just cut 4 guys, the rest are starving and having mandatory off days.

Good luck, might have to go back OTR or say #### it to trucking driver. I'm about to that point. Between the wage theft, the pay cut, and scam load pay, I'm about ready to say goodbye to trucking. OTR is hiring though, 5 yrs exp, hazmat, spotless record. For.... .40 cpm lmao.

If you are terminated for cause, you do not qualify for unemployment

I've been terminated for cause and had no problem getting unemployment. Twice actually. Any company can come up with a bogus reason for termination. If this were true, the only ones getting unemployment would be those being laid off.

That is because the employer put the termination down as a layoff. Been hiring, firing laying off & not to mention signing the front of pay checks for more than 25 years

Rules/laws vary by state. Depends on 'cause'. If it is for being late, stealing, beat up a co-worker then no way. If someone shows up and works to the best of their abillity and it was not good enough then yes they can collect. Such as not being able to meet productivity standards. And it said exactly that as the employer's reason for termination.
