    Still alive.
Healing is taking a lot longer than expected. I'm still going to wound care weekly and just started iron infusions for the next week and a half trying to deal with some anemia.
After some thought I decided that winding up in the hospital was probably a sign that I needed to take better care of myself. This year i have had to reschedule doctor's appointments a few times since they couldn't get me home on time. So I went ahead and talked to Susan and cleaned out my truck. Everyone at FCC was amazing when I went down and the disability insurance while stressful to deal with paid out quickly and without a lot of fuss.
I went ahead and went back to PFG so I can work while I am getting the care I need (I was starting to go crazy after about 3 weeks of doing nothing). I don't love it and it's probably not for life but it'll keep food on the table.
Planning on getting my own place after the first of the year. Putting off dealing with it was understandable the first few months but it's past time I started moving forward.
Wish all of you the best.

    oh yeah, talking about cameras...

my lytx camera will apparently spit out weather warnings now. Yesterday it chirped 'winter storm warning' twice while in central Indiana.

Thanks. I never would've known otherwise. I definitely didn't see a bunch of INDOT plow trucks pretreating roads and several highway message boards alluding to the fact. I totally didn't look at my weather app beforehand, and decide to take 70 vs 74/72/36 to avoid the worst of it, nope not at all.

But at least my lytx camera warned me in a jarring tone twice. I'm not sure what I would do without it

Most battery terminals are either half inch or 10mm.

in my experience it's usually 8mm or 5/16 wrench. But maybe it's just the vehicles I drive

It’s good to focus on your health and getting better as quickly as possible. I think we all need to be more aware of just how unhealthy this OTR Lifestyle can be. I know I need to do a better job for sure.

I do hope you stick around here and continue to add to the fun conversations and keep us updated on your progress.

    Good Luck and Heal Quickly

That reminds me of Boy Scout Camp… we had a “weather station” where people could come check out the current weather conditions.

It was the “Weather Rock”… yup, if wet, it’s raining. If warm to the touch, sunny and clear. If swaying (it was hung from a tripod), it’s windy. If you need a flashlight to check, it’s night. Etc etc etc.

While I agree the camera telling you your “current conditions” might seem like a “duh, no brainer”, I’m hopeful it is just a first step thing.

Like maybe in the not so distant future, since it knows our load/route, it might tell us if we are driving into a tornado warning a couple hours down the road while our weather rock was dry and warm during pretrip.

Or, if it knows our location when we shut down, maybe a heads up that it’s going to be too cold to not run the truck to avoid it gelling up.

yes, we do have tech to look up weather reports or radar, etc but I know on more than one occasion I haven’t done that every day… so a polite “hey driver, did you know you are driving into a blizzard” might be a nice backup.

like the truck telling you it’s 33 out and icy conditions might be a problem.

hoping it’s more useful than a weather rock in the future.

yeah but, we've had something that could tell us all that since the 60's. All the radios in our trucks have the NOAA weather band, and my cb will automatically scan the same weather bands and will automatically switch to it if it picks up an emergency tone

Those are much faster to get information out vs relying on alerts thru a tablet, camera, or even your phone Noaa_all_hazards.svg.png
