Hey truckers need some advice, so my gross weight is 74420 lbs. On Monday morning I need to choose either Wyoming or Colorado to get to Utah, I’m delivering to Southern California on Christmas Eve for my home time. Weather says winds gusts will peak around 45~ mph, would you guys drive in that wind speed or go through I70? I absolutely hate going through Colorado on the I70 but should I just suck it up and take that route? I would usually just shutdown if winds get too bad but I can’t afford to miss this delivery since Christmas is around the corner.
I80 vs I70 west

Weather looks good besides the wind, i'd run 80. Where are you coming from?
Zeldaofeden Thanks this. -
80 west in Nebraska

I'd keep rollin west. 45 ain't bad enough to shut down. You're plenty heavy. Start as early as possibledrvrtech77, MACK E-6 and Zeldaofeden Thank this.

How far south in southern CA?

I would do I 80 for sure 70 is a pain with a loaded truck and god forbid you have a breakdown
Zeldaofeden Thanks this. -
Man speaking of breakdowns, this is off topic but I had a #### breakdown a mile away from my delivery at a truck stop where I shutdown during a blizzard in Mankato Minnesota. Massive air leak in the brake chamber
if that hadn’t of happened, I could’ve been home on the 23rd instead of the 24th

In WY, 45 mph is considered a gentle breeze. At that level, they will probably only shut it down for campers and vehicles under 20,000 lbs
