Have you been threw an audit or is this the advise you received? I never heard of keeping track of your days out by using a calendar.
-
No reason it wouldn't work. People who are away from home the same way but aren't drivers do it all the time.
-
Or for that matter, why don't you man up and respond to us personally instead of calling us "some driver."
You're right, a regulation isn't the same as a law, it's not passed by both houses and signed by the president. Laws can also be challenged in court. That doesn't mean you can just disregard them because you disagree with them. Do you have 10 years employment history on your drivers, including yourself? If you get a DOT audit they're going to ask for that stuff.Big John, 550hpW900L and highside Thank this. -
Those people aren't required to fill out log books either. I am just saying I would make #### sure before I showed up with my pocket calendar. You may be right but I keep my log books along with all my other receipts for years, doesn't hurt anything and I am prepared incase of an audit. I do keep a calendar for times I have to travel for business get parts etc... You know how the IRS is you are guilty of cheating them even when proven not guilty.
I went threw an audit in 1996 and was asked by the IRS agent for my log books and he went threw and looked at all days for my per diem and would not allow for the days I was leaving or returning home. -
I agree with Southernpride except on the ten year employment requirement. When is it going to stop? ####, I love my retirement.

ok first i agree with southern pride! second ,lets look at this goofy crap realisticly,,they have taken a simple chauffers test, and turned it into a federal lic,due to the jokers in the old days that had 3 or more lic from differnt state,,ok i can see this, safty is safty, its common sence,if a driver is any kind of driver he or she should know the basics of his or her truck, i;e fix a light ,adjust ones brakes, in some poeples case lol operate a grease gun and know what a grease fitting looks like, just very standard stuff for general maint,,,,,now the dac report to me is a joke in its self, and as i said to southern pride the nexgt time i drive it will be as a o/o,,and not for some bottom feeder, but asking a man for 10 yrs exspirence,is bull crap atleast 3 -5 should be suffishant,,,,,,,,my point being alot of this crap is over kill!!!!!! the refresher course,10 yrs expirence,,,,, the cdl test in more in depht than it ever has been along with the pre trip,,,,,if you cant handle that and run basic paper work and log books and read a #### map then some realy need to look for a differnt carrer mostly its called being a man, and handleing your responcabilitys,,,,,an i aint got no tissues for the baby sitting

ohhh so very well put sir!!!!!!!

The weirdest request I had was a gap of unemployment. The company wanted a notorized statement from my neighbor stating I wasn't working.
I thought you had to be proved wrong instead of proving right. What happened to the handshake and trusting your fellow man? Those days are gone.
I just read today the governments 5 year plan is to push mostly everything to rail and marine to free up the highway problems. Trucking jobs will be more scarce than the CSA2010 decline. -
Days I'm leaving or returning home I'm always under a load so they can suck it. Well, I can see if you're returning because you end up spending the night at home, but going out you spend the night away. That qualifies.
