Sorry my friend, but there was 5 times Swift safety dinged on "questionable speed". What I would do, is not stop. I'd have 2 cups to pee in, and my ice chest right within reach. I did this primarily on I-80 in Nevada, I-10 in west Texas, and once on a stretch in north Dakota.
So I beg to differ with you on that. They actually counseled me on this, and told me to STOP once in a while, for safety reasons. When I explained what I just told you, safety czar laughed for a bit, and said it's better to stop once in a while and stretch my legs, etc. I only did this for loads that were time sensitive, and in areas and times where traffic was obviously minimal. PLUS, my truck was illegally turned up to 70. I disabled the governor.

Then instead of being questionable, it would be definite overspeed lol.

i'm taking this post with 2 grains of salt....some garlic and a few bits of pepper. I'm guessing this post was ment to be scarcastic. So...with that out of the way...

disabling the govenor on a co. truck will get you fired faster than you can say "cat in a hat". They'll look at your sensortrac info, see you're running in 10 hrs what would take a truck 13 hrs....then look at your average speed, and see its 68. THEN they'll give you a load to T-call....check your truck in the shop...and then find you d!cked with the govenor...and ask for yoru keys.

Now....i just ran from Manteno, IL....to the west side of des moines. 6 hours (not counting the 15 min. break i took in Tiffin, IA) ran straight from there to here. 348 miles in exactly 6 hrs.....average speed of 58. and 90-95% of the run was interstate. I ran back roads from the terminal to I-55, then had to slow for 3 different construction zones with a reduced speed of 55 or slower. So....in a company truck governed at 62....there is no way you can average 62. it cannot be done. There isnt one piece of land in america where you can run for 6 straight hours, and run downhill the whole way.

i'm done arguing with anybody about this, cause i know it can't be done. if you have some need to think you're better than any other company driver, or have some need to make up things to make your head a little bigger.....to each his/her own. I know it can't be done.

I think a lot of truckers don't like Swift because they are dominating freight. They have over forty terminals and still going strong. There is always two sides to every story.

i think that is part of the story. The other part would be that they undercut alot of bids. That "Say NO to cheap freight" i think was created against Swift-type companies. But then its a catch 22. Just like everyone wants to be paid more for skill trades like carpenters and laborers....who do you think is really going to end up paying for the bigger paychecks? Its the consumers. You want paid more, but you'll end up paying more for the things you buy, so whats the point? Same for "cheap freight". Truck drivers want their companies to start charging more for the freight they haul...but again, whats the point. When the company who will end up "paying" for the more expensive freight, will just pass the overhead onto their customers who buy their products. So if it costs $200 per plasma TV to ship.....the price will go up $200. Or that gallon of milk will go up $2 more to cover the added cost.

With all that said....i think another side of that coin is the fact that Swift deals, or owns a mexican carrier, and sends alot of freight across the boarder. (mex. to us)

someone told me that Schneider has a lock on about 80% of the freight....but i dont believe that is true. Just look at any given truck stop or rest area. Half the trucks arent pumpkins. For every 50 trucks, you'll see atleast 4-5 Swiftys.....or so it seems to me.

I'd like to know.....those older trucks that are leasing on with swift (i'm seeing more and more 'outside' trucks being leased on)....if those drivers were/are one of the 'haters' or not. But yet, they chose to lease their truck on with Swift....HAHAHAHAHA
