You gonna get fired in most cases. Some self insured companies might offer you to pay for it in lieu of getting terminated. The same with big fines. Payroll deduction the rest of your life. $1000 gross minus taxes, insurance, loan repayment = $46 Net :)

so i guess the moral of the storey is---if you are going to wreck it---do a good job and enjoy it
but the owner of my last company did tell me" if you roll the truck i wont fire you -i might be some pissed off --but why should i let some other company benefit from what you learned at my expense"

My employer makes us pay for all damages upto the $1,000 insurance deductible, it's permissable by state law, unless it's not our fault. I've paid for damage 4 times in 13 yrs with this company, only one was over $1,000, the others were $400 or less. The one that was over $1,000, the total damage was $3,400, rather then turn it into the insurance company, they split it with me. That was my last incident, I learned my lesson.

Brilliant. It's very true that drivers who've had accidents are less likely to have them in the future but our counterintuitive society believes they are *more* likely to have accidents. Drivers with speeding tickets have incredible incentive to not get another one but once again companies are not inclined to give second chances.

My drivers pay for any damage caused by them to the equipment. If the vehicle is a totaled the driver pays the $5,000 deductable.

I had one driver with 25 years of experiance cause $7,500 in the first leg of his trip.
Second leg he did $4,500 damage to another vehicle.
His last drop in Dallas he backed into a truck causing $6,500 damages.

Tried doing a U turn on a 2 lane highway with a 53' trailer, towing bill $1,500 repair to truck $2,500 trailer repair $2,400

He finally made it home, backing to a dock he hit a 2008 379 Peterbuilt causing $6,500 damage to truck.

is that legal in USA to hold drivers finnancialy resposible for damage to truck?
in the same thought---if the driver does good and makes you a lot of money---do you share it with him?
