I did the regular update while on the road. Download took about 17 minutes and it took maybe 4 minutes to update the unit once I was not online.
Seems to be working ok.
Checked on downloading the maps after that. It will not do it on my unit TND5B. I am guessing because I do not have the unit attached to the computer.
It said it cannot check maps at this time.
So I will wait till I am home for that part. I did not want the internet card to swap towers in the middle and screw it up.
I will have to see over the next few days how the update works out. -
T5B - since the Mac usually will not see a T5B, I am making flash cards here. they will be build in such during the flash it will not change your settings nor address book. A new external SD card will be provided also.
T5C - Ditto. Your maps will be on the flash.
T7C - if it does not connect to the map, let me know, we will be able to flash that also.
There will be a return envelope provided. After flashing please return the SD Cards so that others may be able to update. The T5B we will also need your old map (external SD Card) back.
Thanks,

A advance word... keep your receipts or the CC statement showing the purchase.

Dear Mark,
I have been a user of electronics all the way back to the days of "Solid State" being state of the art. Been a gamer since the days of Pong. Somewhere still, in a box, I still have my Atari VCS and Commodore 64. As I grew older (never will I grow up), I went to school to be an Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (W2000) and A+ Tech. I've beta tested software for gaming companies (last one being World of Warcraft for Blizzard). Customer support, especially dealing with electronic devices and/or software is usually anything but. Developers, in all forms of software either ignore community ideas/complaints/thoughts completely, or have the support people just say "Working as intended" to anything that is broken/unreliable/questionable. With more than 30 years as a proud Total Techno Geek, I can say this...
Through all of my years, I've never seen anyone quite like yourself. For one, I would like to thank you for all of your hard work. I know you have had to deal with nay-sayers here, and all of the other headaches we dream up for you. I wish every company had someone like you to provide the outreach to the end-user community that you give to us. Even when under attack, you still try to help the angriest of users with a calm professionalism that I honestly envy. I know that I would have never have dealt with some of these messages with anything close to way you have shown time and again. I know of no other product/software I use that has anyone willing to go to the devs like you do for us almost on a daily basis.
Thank you!
Ed
(PS: Before any y'all "dissatisfied" fellow truckers flame me for this post, no, I do NOT work for RM, no, I am not currently a beta tester for RM, no, I do not post "fanboy" posts about every product I use. After all the BS I have read here that Mark has dealt with rather well in my little opinion, he deserves this Thank You post dohicky!

Dieselboss, Mark Kling, RAG and 1 other person Thank this. -
After I've said that, I get to be a pain in the tail section. Did the updates today, including the maps. Every time I try to do a new route, it tells me that my map database needs new licencing.. T5C updated to what is current as of this time tonight...
I can't do a new route, can't continue old one.
UPDATE: ACK! Now it goes just to the disclaimer screen, when I hit connect I get the message "MAP DATABASE ERROR. The license for the selected map database is invalid. Please call customer support"

i just bought the 500 model....so far it is awesome....a couple of hiccups
i used the filter option on the poi travel centers and got screwed. i said to my co-driver, "if this feature works, it has paid for it's self". well....we drove 6miles in downtown Newark, NJ. to park for the night. we finally got there and there was no parking===not one place. it was just a gas station with one of those little cubicals to take your money. not pretty when your running out of hours. it wasn't even a truck stop. how do i fix this. and this was after the updating i did. -
