lack of empty trailers

    I guess I worded that wrong. I understood he took a loaded trailer to a receiver and went from there. Maybe I misread it. In the case I just mentioned, I believe there is a minimum $50 pay for delivering the load...to a company driver.

    I'm not above bugging the local planners for a t-called local live unload so I can have the trailer.

    will have to respectfully disagree. even though its a t-call, whoever is picking up the load at the terminal, the load is still booked on said driver from point a to b. which are figured into the load as stops 1 and 90. i had a load like that out of memphis, delivered 12 miles away, but still only got paid a mile. never did see any 'stop pay'.

    that being said.....i always pay attention to addresses at shippers or finals. If i go to the address listed on the p/u or drop, then they tell me, "oh you gotta go down the street to our other warehouse....".....i'll ask if that is a different address, and if they could give it to me. Then i'll send a msg to my DM asking to submit stop pay. yeah...its only 1/4 mi down the road...but a different address is still another stop.

    I didn't describe it very clearly my bad. I took the empty trailer to the drop yard, dropped it picked up the loaded trailer and took it to the consignee where it was live unloaded-- that's part of the reason this little job took 5.5 hours all together. Then I took that empty now to a different shipper and picked up another loaded trailer and took it to a different drop yard and bobtailed out and sat for 25.5 hours until I got another preplan so I waited it out another 9 hours and got a full 34 in. I figured might as well cuz what if I get to the next place and they decide to sit me for 34 that's a potential 60 hours I'm basically out of service= makey no money! lol

    You're an L/O now ... on those kind of loads the planners will kick you an extra $40 to $50 to do it.

    how many of us go home with an MT trailer? i do it all the time. i sure as heck aint going to drop it 90 min away......

    i'd want that in writing or over the qualcomm first. if i do it, it had better have a nice backup behind it....or its not worth my time.

    I get $35 for any load less than 50 miles. It's called short haul pay. It's supposed to be automatic, but sometimes my DM has to force it. Funny how different drivers get different pay. I won't go to NYC anymore since I had a driver tell me he got $100 for crossing the GW bridge. I'll go to NYC if they give me the same pay they give him.

    A delay caused by no empty? Mac22 it will get you out of a service failure.

    I hauled a brand new 111 series trailer from Lafayette IN from Wabash trailers. I took it empty to Cabela's in Praire du Chein WI 300+miles.

    I saw a UPS, and a Landstar tractor pulling brand new Swift trailers. There a over a 100 new ones there at the factory.

    So what do you do if it's a preloaded trailer? Make them reload it in another trailer? Get over yourself.

    I've pulled a 110 trailer that tracked so crooked I was practically driving in two lanes and a couple Ms Carrier trailers that seemed to track pretty true. I've picked up a brand new trailer from the factory in Lafayette, IN and in all honesty, except for the number staring at me in the mirror, I couldn't tell if it was a new trailer or an old trailer.

    If a trailer has good brakes, decent tires, working lights, and the doors aren't falling off, it doesn't matter what the number is.
