Generally, a clean terminal. they have catering trucks, around noon, they got someone inside that serves nice hot meals....but that is just about where everything ends that is plesant.
the workers behind the glass need a wake-up call. I can understand dropping MT trailers, i'm all for that. But when a driver wants an MT, has a preplan and wants to get rollin for the day, they should just give them one. Rahter, they want to 'play god' and want to be in charge of when a driver starts their day.
Yesterday afternoon i got a run from Dallas to Chicago. preloaded trailer, says it'll be ready between noon and midnight. I just went in about 830a, and the guy behind the window says, "you're still on the list, you're picking up a preloaded trailer that'll be ready between noon and midnight". I said, "yeah, but i want to be THERE by noon." he again restated that it was a preloaded trailer, blah blah blah, and that someone would send me directions to a trailer or the MT trailer number when the time was right.
Sorry, but someone behind the driver services window isnt going to determine when i start my day. Here comes another email to Richard Stocking.......
Lancaster, TX terminal.....your opinion?

I was there a couple of weeks ago for orientation and the place actually was better than what I expected. I did notice that the driver lounge was packed and their where a ton of people waiting in line at the window.
I guess in the next few months I will find out how it is. -
I did get a message back from the terminal manager. Richard Stocking must have forwarded my email to him. and the TM told me that "we make drivers drop trailers because they have more frieght than trailers, and we dont need drivers running around, burning time and fuel looking for MTs. "
he must not understand what my email was really after. I totally agree with making drivers drop MT trailers....but you cannot tell me that its such a problem that swift has more freight than trailers, that you cannot let a driver 3-4 hrs before their pick up window opens an hour away, to assign them an MT so they can get rollin' if they want. Swift might have more freight than trailers, but i know they got more drivers than freight. =) -
The catering truck that comes in the after noon has excellent chicken tacos. Better than the morning truck The people that do the food inside? Didn't look appealing to me.
I sat there with my mentor once. We were 3 hours late to our PU. "no empties." We sat in front of the fuel island turned out the empty we finally got was sitting there all the time! The way we finally got one was message his home terminal and Phoenix.
The mechanic shop is a joke. I was talking to one of their guys on his last day. He was working the desk. Told me that whoever ran the shop treated them like crap and there was 4-5 guys following him out the door.
They don't say anything about you wearing flip flops in the terminal.
I did say one positive thing! -
Speaking of flip flops, I saw that X-ray of the foot wearing flip flop with large #8 screw going through lol. It's only obvious that the screw is between the toes in that X-ray LOL
-
I see that Xray and roll my eyes. I had steel toe work boots. Stepped on a nail and it went into my foot. Big frikken deal............ -
is the hospital really going to keep the flip flop on the foot when taking an x-ray? they'd cut it off. lets not forget, the only thing that would show up in the x-ray might be the plastic band that goes over the foot. the 'sole' is mostly foam and air....and hardly show up on an x-ray. -

I was told the man in the office was treating the mechanics badly.
There is a kid there that does PM's. he wrote up some wrong things about my truck. I had to correct the work list.
They get what they pay for. They don't pay enough. That shop has plenty of work to stay open 24/7 yet they don't.
Seems to me if we have more freight than trucks? Why isn't there faster repairs and PM's going on. Trucks aren't making any money sitting there. They are losing freight.
