They treat you really well they do not treat you as a truck number I have heard bad things and good things! It all depends on you if you apply yourself and really want it you will do fine! Would I recommed them to you Yes 100% i would

Hey all it is Fridat OCT 8th know its been awule to update ypou all on whats going on! Well I am sitting on a bus heading back home I am done with training and went for my upgrade! I passed its really nice that they now have a 2 1/2 day upgrade class you do your backing and road test then go over other things like logging and stuff like that its really nice they are teaching the backing 12 and then 9 position when setting up to back little diffrent and its alright if you have the space to do it at shippers but ya we are in the real world out there but still nice to know how to do it! I leave thrusday to go get my own truckwhere i do not know and what type do not know will find out wed when i call Van Buren! Heard at upgraade that they are getting 500 new Freightliners cascadas 10 speeds in the first of the year they are going to switch there fleet back over to 10 sppeds! Hmmmmmm makes more sence to me! well will let you all know when i get my truck will post some pics and keep ya all updated as to how things are going! To all the new guys that are reading this and people who are thing of doing this for a living i got a couple words of advice! If this is your dream follow it go get your cdl come to work for usa see for yourself they treat you right if you do right i have seen you are not a truck number your FM know you by name and treat you with respect! If you go to van buren for orentation do not listen to what everyone says in the drivers lounge! WHY well the people who are unhappy who put down usa and say they treat me like dirt not getting mileage well i have learned in just almost 2 months there there always is a story behind it as to why! Its not USA but that drivers fault! Refusing loads not getting loads and pick ups on time not playing by the rules and number one Think they know it all! I still do not know everything and will learn everyday Thank God For USA TRUCK if not for them and C1 I would not be driving today I owe alot to them for giving me a chance and tgo my trainers! So there ya go I did not think I would be saying stuff like this but hey I am happy where i am and very thankful that I had the chance to start woking for a great company! Drive safe all be good

WVroadtrucker1965, I really appreciate your threads! I followed them right before I started school at C1 Fort Wayne on Oct 10. Everything you said was true right off the bat! Hallmark Inn ain't the Ritz, but they do have hot water, and most important to me....NO BUGS!!! I'm right on track to finish school the week of the 24th GOD willing. I had to test for my Indiana Ops, and the (3) three( General Knowledge, Combination and Airbrake) CDL permit tests. Glad I got that done! Ivan was my 1st week instructor and he really cares about the students getting everything right. Monday we head to the range for Pretrip. John the director says we have to have it done by Friday. Hope I can cut it! Anyway hope to see you out there soon! For those of you out there still wondering if the stories are true or not...All I can say is try it for yourself....Don't let someone keep you from your dreams! I'll post more soon!

    venne Thanks this.

WVroadtrucker1965 - any updates? I'm sure you have your own truck by now and I'd like to hear how it's going. I'm waiting to hear back if USA will pay for my training - if so I should be starting in Fort Wayne in December. How's solo driving? Getting miles? Any troubles we should keep in mind? Hope all is going well for you, can't wait to live my dream! Also, how is it being away from the family? I have a new wife and 1 year old daughter - I know I'll miss them but this will be great for my family.

Actually they are. I just finished upgrade training at Van Buren. On the last day we spent several hours with the shop guys. They have had a lot of problems with the automatics, things like them not starting if you kill the engine in anything but neutral. This has cost USA lots of money. All new tractors are/will 10 speeds, and as the automatics go they will be replaced with 10 speeds.
