On a side note which was mentioned in the article, and which I read about years ago-- a man in Alaska was trying to build a brick house way out in the sticks. There were all kinds of problems with the delivery trucks getting stuck etc and charging more for the inconvenience of delivering to his place. He did a little homework and came up with the solution that it was cheaper to mail each brick and other building materials through USPS lol. It was perfectly legal but USPS lost mega bucks on that deal. Against the law now.....

Untill 12/3/10,I had spent the past 4yrs hauling for a U.S.P.S.contractor.Other than UPS,and FedEx it can be one of the best gigs a company driver can get.$52K a year, home every other night,a 2.5day weekend every week,72mph trk, light loads,no dispatcher B.S.,well kept equiptment.Alas,it's a shame that gravy train ended.I lost my route due to an impending facility closure.Oh well!!Now I'm back in the real world, running for a crappy company, doing more work for less money, and alot less hometime.Oh well!!I got to feed the mouths at home somehow untill I find something better.Matt
