Unless you've always left jobs only after securing a new one, you're pretty much always gonna have some kind of gap. I'll give you an example of what mine looked like for companies, and my verification has been fine with every company except Millis who needed a W2 that I could't present because when I was 18 I didn't see the importance of saving my copies (live and learn).
Company A: 11/2003 to 6/2004
Company B: 9/2004 to 8/2005
Company C: 11/2005 to 8/2006
*When in reality there'd be a job I did for 2 months between A and B, as well as between B and C that I'd leave out. Like I said, I've worked for some well known companies with month long background/verification processes and have never been turned down a job, BUT its really not worth the risk and the DOT is different.
IF the application ask for "all gaps" which SOME do, I would list any and all gaps and furthermore, in the comment section I would give a very brief example of why the gap. For example attended school, looked after a relative, whatever it may be. You're young so sometimes job hopping is expected, especially when its places like $8 retail jobs. Its not like you've worked for 20 years and have had 25 jobs. But I'm telling you the "reason" box is you're friend!! -
Hey I seen you were going to WPTS in Cali. I just finished my time with their branch in Kent, WA. I don't know how they operate down there but up here we have placement and they answered all my questions about my employment history. My history wasn't that bad just alot of little jobs I was only at for about a month. I know they get alot of good companies looking for students out of their schools and Curtis up here at Systems is pretty straight forward as to weather or not he will take you. I know Systems just put a hold on hiring new guys due to a shortage of trainers. Hope that helps you out, best of luck.

Here's the part you chose to leave out:
(c)(1) A list of the names and addresses of the applicant's previous employers for which the applicant was an operator of a commercial motor vehicle
Paragraph (c) says you have to provide a bunch of (following) items of information for the previous ten years. These are defined in paragraphs (c)(1), (c)(2) and (c)(3). Paragraph (c)(1) says you have to provide a history of jobs where you operated a CMV. (c)(2) and (c)(3) ask for some additional information.
The feds don't care about your jobs flipping burgers, they want to know about your TRUCK DRIVING JOBS. Because you're applying for a TRUCK DRIVING JOB.
But, suit yourself.18wheelsofsteel Thanks this. -
Honestly, if I we're you I'd just do the right thing and include EVERYTHING! I understand your concern because I'm in the same boat but its really not as big of a deal as it seems.
In response to your point of "If I don't tell them will they really know", I'll say this. I worked for Pepsi near Chicago and just quit one day.....Pepsi's policy is "If you quit without 2 weeks notice you cannot be hired again". Within 4 months I re-applied for a position at a different distribution center about 40mi away, they did a background check and I was hired. I didn't even mention that I had previously worked with Pepsi before, but obviously it didn't come up. Once again, I don't really don't see the point in risking it in trucking, especially if its a new venture and different than other jobs you've done which they'll see.
