Bingo.......... -
Yes, you sign a waiver allowing them to do background checks. Orientation is nothing but signing stuff for three days straight!
-
the question is how the dac report people got you info in the 1st place.
-
My question is how they are getting the info in the 1st place? an empoyer can give no more info than if you worked for them and the dates you worked. But they are giving your info to this company. And these as nothing to do with credit or banking or nothing else. this is personal job info companies are giving away, to a company that gives it to other "companies" with out even verify signatures. Any one can call and get your info, just by knowing your name and address.

Like my title says Trucking is not like any "regular" Job, if you think DAC is bad Check out CSA 2010 and the driver rating system that ALL Carriers have access to. It will tell them EVERY time you have been pulled, inspected, put out of Service, and Guess What else It displays Your Name, Address, SS#, DL# and best of all if you have ever failed a Drug test.
DAC is a Way for companies to keep from hiring drivers who screw up, wreck trucks, abandon them, are constantly LATE, and Yes Some companies go way over board with the BS They put on them. ANY Company that reports to DAC has the driver sign a Waiver, even LandStar who is all Owner Operators leased to them Reports to DAC.
Since 9/11 there have been Major Changes in the Transportation Industry, You have a CDL issued by the State you reside in But the Procedures for getting that are from Strict Guidelines from the FED's along with the Patriot Act, which is where all the funding came from for TSA to control Hazmat Endorsement and all the red tape one goes through.
This is not the days of Bingo cards, and Multiple Log books, and Multiple DL's I remember my Pops and Uncle having no less than five DL's in the 70's right up into the 80's them days are long gone.
Any reasonable Company looking to find out what a driver is not going to tell them will pull a DAC, and We all sign the Waiver, for them to pull it, when you work for a company you sign a lot of paperwork, Myself and Many others have said it time and time again READ THE FINE PRINT, do not just sign and ignore.
If you have an issue with a Report on your DAC you can dispute it, some say it is a pain in the arse, I however did not have that problem as I had documentation that the company was in the wrong with the report some office jockey filed on me not knowing the whole story, I Paid to fly a driver from the company to where I was, Picked him up and I paid the fuel to get the truck back to the terminal, I had set this up with the Owner of the company ( which I am still friends with) My Pops had a Massive Heart attack, he had no issue with me wanting to get his truck back to him at MY COST. Office Flunky put an abandoned TRUCK on my DAC, two phone calls and a FAX and it is off.
Your anger about DAC reports is obvious, but as My Signature says it all, I am sure that there is more to this story, and your real anger is over something ELSE.
I do understand DAC is messed up, but if a Driver does what he is supposed to the chances the DAC is wrong are very slim.
kickin chicken Thanks this. -
My anger is that I owned a company and managed another for many years. I was taken to court for giving out too much info on a driver who was in my employement. Employers are only suppose to give out weather a person was employee, a yes or no and if yes what dates they where employed with the company. The problem I have is two parts, part A that employers are giving out more info then they are allowed to give out and part B the lack of security at the Hireright corp (DAC). During the last three days I was able to obtain dac reports for 4 other people, people I know who are just as mad about this as me. I called to request a DAC, told them the name and ss# and told them I moved. That the addres they had was wrong. They are sending out the reports to me. On the same security note, Dacs gets a paper thru a fax, sometimes a computer print out with a mouse signature from a computer and they release your info to some Joe blow. I would be alot more at ease with this if dac would require you to send them a signute that has been notorized so they can compare the signatures before sending out info. Heck if I go to a different Branch of Wells fargo they order a Signature card? Shouldn't a company who has you identity do the same? They also are a slanted one sided reporting system because they get paid by trucking companies, Who do you think they are going to believe when you call and dispute something? The company that feeds them or you? Thats what I am mad about.

I've been driving OTR for 11 years and have never seen my DAC....I don't even really know what a DAC is. Pardon my ignorance fellow drivers, but WTF is it and how do I get to see it? thanks for any help.

Sorry guys , Iam new to the site, couldnt find
where the dac section was to post my question. If a company does not submit a dac report to the usis, and the company is refusing to give one out to you or the employer that is going to hire you. (out of spite) what can you do? Do you have a legal right to request one from that company? Or are you as they say S.O.L? I appreciate any advice.
