I had a German Shepard that was terrified of stairs and desert patterned BDU's. I figured her former master was a GI, but pure speculation.

This dog is neurotic. His normal potty routine is he likes tall grass to take a dump in. (It's a pain for me to pick up, but whatever...as long as he goes.) The Swift yard in Sparks has nearly every square inch paved. In the very back of the yard is a single strip of high grass. This knucklehead got it into his brain he was suddenly afraid of high grass and refused to go anywhere near it. He'd back away from it rolling his eyes back and shaking his head like he didn't even want to look at it. After visiting several other likely spots, he refused to go and chose to hold it all night.
I have no idea why he decided that patch of grass was so scary. But next morning, I got him out and he was fine with it. Go figure.
But yes, he is afraid of heights. And rain. He hates the rain even though he's fine with snow and ice and doesn't put up too much of a fuss when it's time for a bath. -
There may have been a snake in the grass.

well he was at a swift terminal!panhandlepat Thanks this. -
I dont think its just a particular company issue I think its a Industry issue, Had a trainer with another company who would leave things for other drivers to deal with although the problems were not caused by him, he still should of reported it and got the problem fixed. Half a roll of electrical tape on an air line is not the solution.
Injun Thanks this. -
Agreeing with Injun to the 100th power on the clean truck thing. I've always kept my truck clean, especially the glass, and the dash clear. I figured out another motivating reason when talking to a state trooper friend..he ONLY inspects dirty trucks. Not just dirty from recent ugly weather - we all know a real dirty truck versus one that got caught in the rain and then went through a contruction zone.
That said..that whole "it's not my job thing" is lazy BS. Come on, take a LITTLE pride in yourself and your appearance. I just cleaned my "new" (newly assigned) truck for two days - it appeared to have never been swept out inside or vacuumed. Disgusting.panhandlepat Thanks this. -
How 'bout this, I got hit by an SUV recently. Pulled over to a nearby truckstop to assess the damage. Discovered an inside tire that was flat on the trailer. I told my DM about it and the fellow who came to repower the load. The driver wasn't worried about it because it was on the inside and only about 300 miles to go lol. A lot of people have this 'it ain't my problem' attitude.

now that tire one is just pure lazy--ifit was on the rim and not leaking to bad--the least i would do is air it up to get it back so it can be fixed at a reasnoble cost---but 300 miles is going to wreck a flat tire---at least get it to someplace and get it fixed or replaced
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Yeah the tow truck driver who was about to haul my truck had called his buddy to come and repair the tire or replace it. But there's a bunch of redtape to go through like getting a PO number to pay for the work. The driver didn't want to deal with it, it's potential time away from his next load which translates to money honey.

not sweeping the trailer huh? try to go load rolls at International Paper and see how far "it ain't my job" flies. (right off of their property i would imagine (EMPTY)
