What's the harm in doing both? You can band together with Swift AND leave your own comments on the FMSCA site.

As far losing Mac23. This really sucks. But I'll just have to deal with it. I usually do as Redd said anyway...call the shipper/final if I'm not familiar with the spot.

Hamshoe, apparently, your mother didn't teach you to quit while you're ahead. But, she is a woman, so why listen to her, right?

I use Google maps aerial view. Works pretty good for me. I always use the atlas though, no matter how comfortable I am with Google. Gotta know about restricted routes and clearances. Macro 23 was just another tool in the box. Might get a good GPS one day, but right now I can't justify the expense because the system I have going (Google, atlas) works fine.

I don't know about Swift but any place I have worked at I've always found it to be a good thing for me when things, other than my wages, save them money.

When I get back to the truck, I'll send a message to Swift on both topics... I think the current HOS rules are fine the way they are, and are flexible enough to suit most drivers. FWIW, I have found that I am good for about 8-10 hrs of driving per day. If necessary, I will take a couple more breaks and push it to the full 11 hours but I certainly would not run 11 every day.
As far as instructions go, so far I prefer a combination of Qualcomm instructions, GPS, and a little common sense. I have run into a couple of situations where the exact shipper address does not exist, but with some creative GPS interpretation and the directions from Qualcomm we were able to find the place. In my opininion, the more sources of information you can pull from, the better! While I understand that some Mac23 directions can be completely hosed, you have a better chance of getting good information than from Mapawayfromit directions....

    Injun Thanks this.

23 They have always worked fine for me. The other ones are the ones that suck.

I used a similar macro at Werner for directions as well as my map. It was good also as it had the phone number on it. Maptoit was a joke!

I run out of my 70 every single week. However the greater issue is the government dictating to us how we use our time, when we can work and when we need to take a nap. I'm 54, not 4 and I really don't need some idiot in Washington DC telling me to get my blankie and take a nap.

I miss 23 as well, but have had issues with it in the past where apparently some wiseacre driver thought it would be funny to send in erroneous feedback to get the next driver(s) in trouble. Examples:

Georgia Pacific Toledo Oregon-- 23 says drive through town to get to the plant-- if you do this you can be popped for a $300 fine.\

Best Buy Park City Utah-- 23 says get off the exit go south 1.5 miles make a left on such and such a street boom you're there. However it's i n the middle of a residential neighborhood, and you'll be dragging your trailer over lawns. The best buy is off that exit, 1st light on the left!
