dont burst REDDs bubble. He sounds alot like my uncle. My uncle never use to be like this, but every other sentence out of his mouth is sexist or just plain ignorant.

I'm sure they got over or "bent' some drivers in the past, but the lawsuits against Swift have caused them to take a kinder gentler approach to their independent contractors. The only thing a driver needs to do is come out and work for Swift for a few months and show a true interest in driving lots of miles. In return Swift will help a broke and homeless driver actually start their own trucking business. It's the true American Way!

Oftentimes successful people started out in circumstances ranging from destitute to privileged. The vast majority of people opt for the ho-hum life and fly under the radar for their entire existence. Others are filled with the spirit of life that causes them to take great risks so they have the opportunity for great reward.

    Thank you.
    Thanks!

Well like I said there's lots of posts from newbies coming into the trucking industry, thought I would post from the point of view of someone who has a few months down and moving onto the next step. Who knows, might inspire some new drivers to stay in the industry or realize it is not right for them before they get too involved, either way I feel I am helping by contributing.

I get lots of looks driving around lol.

    Hmmm maybe later on.

There are advantages to leasing as opposed to owning a truck. Each person would have to sit down and write two columns one with Pros and one with Cons for each scenario and weigh it out which way makes more sense for their situation.

No couch thankgod. Upper and lower bunk.

Yes let's keep it civil here please, nothing worse than starting a promising, helpful, hopeful thread and having it shut down because people are more interested in demonstrating their anger over others.

Scottie....no couch "thank god"??? oh man you don't know what you're missing. well its a couch, but it folds down into a bunk bed. kinda akward though, one side is a tad higher than the other, but i solved that problem by folding a wool blanket on the side thats 'low', and then put one of those memory foam things over that, and wrap that in another quilt my grandma made 300 yrs ago. works pretty nice. and it sure is nice to SIT BACK and relax kicking my feet up on that riser into the cab of the truck and watch a movie while drinking a beer.......

    i'm just kidding.....i dont watch movies....LOL:biggrin_25522:
