I could go on but I'm not gonna waste my time. You'll learn, but will never admit to it.
Nobody says you have to fail, its just that you're most likely too.
The reason you won't hear O/O's who fail? Its because they don't just walk away from a lease and continue on with life, they lose everything. -
BTW I am an official chain wrangler now watch out! only took me 43 minutes to install them-- part of that time was putting on my heavy jacket and taking if off at the end and only 15 minutes to take the chains off and get back on the road. -
but you're a smart guy....i know you'll bust your tail. Just remember...its not how hard you drive....its how smart you drive.
Let me give you a little story.....
I get to Columbus at 4p. few hrs earlier i already get a PP to go from Columbus to Atlanta for sunday. I go in, drop off the paperwork, and then ask for an MT. naturally...no MTs. My pick up is in Mt. Vernon, OH at owens corning. about 20 mi NE of Columbus. Some genius in ECT in Memphis decides to give me directions for an MT 40 mi SW of Columbus. Now i was told by my DM that O/Os dont get paid miles to find an MT trailer. (yeah, Bulllllll S!$%^) then some guy tells me "you'll get paid MT miles". Okay...so i'll run 80 miles round trip....get paid for 60 mi (if i'm lucky) in the meantime, i'm going to burn 10 gallons of fuel....or lets just say $40. i'll make .83cpm to run these miles? i'll net a few bucks just to go get an MT? yeah right. So what did i do? waited till about 7p, and walked up and down 4 rows of trailers, and wrote down 5 trl numbers of trailers that were MT and not hooked to another truck. I went inside and asked if any of them were good. out of 5....2 were in 'shop' status...1 was still showing loaded and 1 was still showing hooked to another truck. the last one on the list was the only one that was 'good'.
Did i probably tick off some people in memphis because they didnt get their jollys being control freaks? i hope so...but then again...so what.
always remember, it is not THEIR business....its YOURS. in recent weeks, i've gone from pulling anything, to watching the weights of the loads. now i'm watching to see just how far off the practical miles and actual miles are. if they're off by more than 15%, i ask my DM about getting more miles. But lately his typical response has been, "those miles are computed by rand mcnally"...and dont try to get extra miles tacked on......which again is Bull S^%&scottied67 Thanks this. -
What is the difference?
If someone wants to lease, and I know of several that have done well and completed the lease with money left over, does not make them the fool.
Just because they do not agree with you also does not make them a fool.Big Don, KevinUnserJr, Injun and 1 other person Thank this. -
i'm sure glad you werent a parent of mine when i was growing up. Sure would be hard for a kid to hear, "dang kid, you suck at baseball...why dont you give up? You'll never be any good".....scottied67 Thanks this. -

When I was running teams recently we had a FedEx load from Denver to Oakland. It was longer by 97 miles than the preplan said. Picked up a load at FedEx Oakland (same place) and delivered to the same FedEx in Denver next day. We were about in Vacaville CA before the miles matched on the GPS and the Preplan. Even if they went zip code to zip code, hmmm we went though whole cities not even counting how many zip codes from Oakland to Vacaville. Computer my buttocks, it's probably some guy in there trimming miles off unsuspecting trips to pocket the $$
