So all you that dont recognize me, Im abe and I work for Werner... just posted in the welcome section earlier today. I am at our Fontana, CA terminal waiting to drop my load off in the AM and i had to use the restroom and find something to eat out of our vending machine so i went into the terminal when i overheard a couple of our drivers talking to each other. I heard one of em say that he had no problem making 5000 (thats not a typo!) take home a week as a company driver, so i walked over and and had to be in this conversation and introduced myself and said hello to the both of them. I sat down at thier table and just listened to the garbage lies pour out thier mouthes. One said he took a load from southern california to new jersey with no brakes, and how the police chased him down I70 through colorado doing 100 + mph through the rockies and when he stopped he told the police he had no brakes and the officers let him go due to him saying he had no brakes, and would let him leave if he said he was going to get the brakes checked and how he threatened them to beat em up if they did not stop screwing with him, and how the police were scared of him, lmao! :biggrin_2554:. Than his buddy (the one who claimed to make 5000 a week) said that he had went to pick up a preloaded trailer somewhere and when he arrived that they had 2 loads that needed to be pulled to the same location (salt lake to chicago he said) and how the shipper fabricated a dolly so that he could pull both 53 foot trailers to the consignee :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2554:... at this point another scraggly driver walks into the terminal and heard one of em say something about all the down time werner was giving him a 3rd idiot joined the conversation.. great ... this driver was a trainer, and he had a story about how his "F***** retarded student that he has ran over a deer and he was so concerned about his truck and the damage to it and how hes sitting in a terminal making fun of his student and he goes on to say how hes going to run him just for the miles than fail him when hes out of training hours.... this entire time im thinking what an embaressment! I cant believe i work with let alone share the roads with these morons! I really didnt like all the negativity about werner and thier drivers iv read on this forum, but now i totally understand! I walked away from them without saying a word to them, and am truly embaressed to say that I am these peoples co worker..... wow! :biggrin_25513:

Welcome to trucking; first liar doesn't stand a chance!

And BTW, this scenario is recreated multiple times each day, at counters in truckstops all across this land...

..I used to say that to myself all the time whenever I was at a Werner terminal, particularly the Atlanta terminal.

Just about every Driver Lounge (truck stop and terminal) and restaurant counter has guys like these... If not, wait 5 minutes.

    Wildly entertaining, and sometimes pathetic.

    Also....

Apparently trucking is the number one career choice for former Special Ops soldiers if every military tale is to be believed

Yep, you gotta add a trailer load of ping pong balls. Then it's believable. Actually, it's downright gospel then. :biggrin_25525:

i did that last week, I had to tie the two 53's together with bailing twine though. My shipper wouldnt fabricate a dolly for me.
