If you're coming in without a CDL already, you'll be going to the Springfield terminal. You'll have a week of classes and get your permit if you didn't get it in your home state. After that you'll go out for at least 100 hours of driving one on one with a CDL instructor. After the 100 hours are up you'll come back to Springfield to take the CDL test. After you pass you'll go out for 50,000 miles with a trainer, and then will be able to get your own truck.

I just came thru PHX on Buckeye to avoid some wreck on I-10 about 2 hours ago.

Sweet! Where abouts are you? Our orientation went smooth, but there were more students than instructors, which was expected. However, a few trainers have trickled in since and the numbers of us remaining has dwindled. :D I head out on Monday, unsure where just yet.

Thx ironpony...I guess I hear that some trucking companies send you a plane ticket & some you greyhound it depending on their finances...no problem as long as I can get there..and if they can cover most of the expenses that would be sweet as well:yes2557:.I will call the recruiter,I was referred to call one anyways.

:smt023(sazook)...you explained exactly what I needed to know:biggrin_25514:
I will keep this in my notes definitely.I am new here and I don't expect too much of an exact reponse..'cause noone knows me..so understandable, but I appreciate what response I get in reference to a question. This helped me gratefully, thanks.
*You were riding along Buckeye Rd?..that area is a major trucker pass-thru,we have all warehouses down there factory's/Store Distr.and Memorial Day Weekend is typical for us to get hwy.accidents..never mind on a weekly basis.Continue to drive safe!

:smt023(BBradUMA)...thank you for the advice...so I would be considered as PSD..so I guess I would have to be one of those students that drive a truck in the yard with sign on it saying"student driver":biggrin_2558:..lol.That's fine. Thanks for the PM invite..I will let you know I just wanted to know a few things and then mosey along...all of you have been grateful in letting me know the scoop.

(ZiBop)...thanks for the PM offer as well, but as soon as I get in the game and actually make my move in that direction I will get in touch for advice, thank you.

For the sake of the company I hope they are charging the customer for the actual miles, but I seriously doubt that to be the case. It just doesn't make any sense.

As for the extensive history of ripping off drivers, I know nothing of that. From what I have seen in the last 18 months, I'm sure I would side with the company the vast majority of the time.

What I am complaining about here is a perfect example. I don't get paid for the miles I drive. It adds up to around $300 per month. Some disgruntled driver could claim he is being ripped off and it may look good enough reading just his side of the case on a message board. But the fact is, this is the way things are. I've known how I would be paid from the start. Any time I don't like what is happening, I know the way home, and I can turn in my keys. In addition, I have been given a way to get paid for the miles I drive. I've just chosen not to do it.

Its something I would like to see changed. But if its not, I'm not going anywhere.

You can fix that with 15 minutes of research. Look around the net. You will see many threads on boards about drivers who started off as poster children for the company, who change their tune in the end. Look at the lawsuits. Maybe ask 'em why they call it New Prime now. Hint, they got their ### handed to them in a lawsuit. Companies do not get a reputation for sucking for no reason. Prime is on the list of bottom feeders for a reason. Watch this thread for six months, you''ll see.

    1. True. There are many complaints out there.

    2. Care to post some examples of "poster children" working for Prime who change their tune.

    3. False. They filed Bankruptcy in the 80s, and returned as New Prime... and not because of a lawsuit. Maybe you are thinking of OOIDA getting their ### handed to them, and had to pay Prime's legal bill. Yes Prime did lose a wrongful termination lawsuit... if you look at the settlement it was far from getting their ### handed to them.

Awesome! I'm due to head out around 1500 tomorrow. My trainer frequents Utah, my home state (don't laugh), so that's good. :D Keep us posted on your whereabouts, be it in a separate thread or this one.

Another one who knew someone whose cousin had a friend whose neighbor's brother worked for Prime and lost his shirt... I am happy and a lot of others are as well. Yeah, we have our share of whiners, and of course, it can never be THEIR fault things didn't work out. Has to be the company messing them over. Other companies are selling things, parking trucks, etc. Prime is growing and BUILDING. Gotta make a lot of people really mad.
