So I just finished with an unload this morning in Riverside, CA and got a pre-plan going to CO, with one stop.
Couldn't do it. The stop was around 40 miles away, delivering tomorrow afternoon, then 1,000 miles to CO by 1100 the next day.
Don't know what they were thinking, trying to give that load to a solo driver.
So, just after I turn down the load I get a QC from my DM telling me not to accept any pre-plans that are not going to or through Phoenix.
I will be getting a new truck.
Next thing I know I have a pre-plan to Buckeye, AZ - but the pickup time is already 2 hours past. Told, don't worry. Pick up ASAP and no service failure. So, OK.
And here I am in Phoenix, waiting until morning when the truck assignment shack opens to see about my replacement truck.
Bummer, too. I like my Volvo, even though it is 4 years old and has nearly 500k. The load I ran to Buckeye was 45,300 lbs of water. And even in 110 degree heat over the I-10 grades, the water temp never touched red. A few trucks I even passed. Several others were sitting at the side, cooling down.
So, anyone know how long it takes to be reassigned to another truck and get rolling?

A new truck may just be a year newer than what you already had, some people in the right spot get brand new. They sent me a msg like that about 4 months ago and old new truck is what I got.

Well, here I sit...
Here I sit in my 'new' truck, in the sleeper that I just now was able to clear off enough to make my bed.
I never knew how much work was involved in moving to a new truck, after 6 months of collecting 'what I need' to live in a truck.
The heat here in Phoenix, being around 110, didn't help much either.
I had just got my truck assignment when I was sent a pre-plan.
I was already late picking it up, of course, but the pre-plan said it was OK to pick it up late.
A run to Colorado, again, with two stops - the first of which was 10:00 Friday morning.
I called my DM and told him that I had just received the new truck, that I still had to move everything over from the old one and get moved in, that I had been up since 6am and that I would not get any driving in that night.
He said, OK, turn it down and just say 'driver fatigue' for the reason.
Did that, and was taken off the load. He reset my PTA for 0600 Thursday, which is where it had been set Tuesday evening (but somehow got set to 0001 Wednesday without my ever knowing about it).
So I spent the next couple hours moving everything over. Then we went to the Flying J for a nice dinner at Denny's.
Did I mention yet that I finally was able to pick up my 15 year old daughter, Luana, for a ride along? Got her this past Saturday, and she is having a great time so far.
Didn't mention the truck yet either...
A nice, shiney, almost new 2010 FreightShaker Cascadia.
It has all of 17,100 miles on it.
Sweet!Everett, BigShrek72 and bullhaulerswife Thank this.
