No, no, no. If you log 15 min for your post-trip, than only flag your pre trip for at least 5 mins. Don't log 15 mins for each one. Log 15 mins for either one or the other. Not both.
I don't log 15 mins at shipper or receiver. Unless I have to assist them loading or unloading. I generally log 7 mins at shipper or 10. And ask them not to put my times in and out on BOL. That is it!

My fuel, is maximum 7 mins. I have done it in 4 mins.

When something like that happened to me.... and the *%# log told me I had violated HOS as I was pulling inside truck stop, I felt like grabbing the darn thing and throwing it through the window. Went one freaking min over my 11 and 2 mins over my 14. All because some freaking traffic jam and little problem unhooking.... :biggrin_25510: This would NEVER had happened were I on paper... Then I had to go 7 days, worrying about DOT checking my elog and finding the stupid "violation" right there.
Now, I also have to drive less, stop earlier just to avoid going one min over my freaking hrs. :biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

You don't have to worry about the DOT finding the violation on your elogs. Swift (or any company that uses them) already knew about the violation the very moment it happened and took care of it. Why do you think DOT says fuggetaboutit when asking for your logs, you say "I have elogs"? They know it's a waste of their time to find something that Swift already took care of.

Sounds to me like these E-logs take a lot of time away from concentrating on "driving".

    Just saying...

You may say that.... but I am not sure. A violation is a violation. And in my opinion, having an elog is no guarantee that DOT will not want to check it. Sooner or later they will. And having a violation right there, it's impossible to hide.

Except it isn't right there... I went 4 minutes over my 14 and my eLog said 14 hrs when I called it back up.. Before you say anything since Central and Swift are sister companies we use the same eLog system..

I don't want to start a peein' match over this, but if your logs are checked by DOT and you have say a 1 minute violation over on your 11 somewhere in your last 8 days - whether Swift knows about it or not, you're going to be written up.

I had a Texas DOT bear ask to see my e-log when I was at Prime. Had me show him my last 10-hour break and how to move from page to page.

    Some will look.

I had a PA DOT bear asking me about the last few hours - was in a no-parking zone at a rest area. Showed him my elog record - that backed my story up, and he told me to move the tractor to a parking spot (now open) and went back to sleep.

You get a violation for a minute over and you better pray that DOT does not want to see your logs....
