Hi, i have applied for Roadmaster Truck Driving School in Tampa. I was told that i am pretty much guaranteed a job when i graduate school. The way the recruiter was talking is that i would have to go OTR. or he was just really pushing that!

Does anyone know of a/or company(s) that will hire a new student locally?
I really can't and don't want to go OTR. I have a wife and a coming 2 year old daughter, that is very hard to be away from either of them for more than a day.

    Please help me!
I am really just doing this to get the knowledge of trucks and get my CDL so i can find a job.

All I can tell you is that around Oklahoma city Oklahoma is that most companies that do local running is that they want you to have some experience Orr before they will hire you. I can't say in your area whether it's true or not. Alot of local companies want you to have exp, because of insurance reasons. You might have to do otr before you can get a local job. Hope the best for ya and you find what you are looking for.

It is VERY far and between that you'll find a local job without at least a year experience. Now you can get a job that does regional or dedicated so you're home every weekend, that counts toward OTR experience but local out the gate is amazing. And by written test you mean the CDL test? It's not hard at all, just multiple choice. Read a short paragraph and choose the best one.
They mean it when they say you'll have a job, chances are if you're background is clear and you can pass a drug test you can get plenty of pre-hires from multiple companies, hell I had 5 before my 3rd week with Road Master out of Kansas City. The hard part is actually choosing a company that's worth a crap to start for.

Im going to that same school. Do your research, you will find that most good companys will not even consider you with out proper time, and miles. I have a family as well, but if they are going to come over you trying to support them, think about another career. I have gotten myself mentally ready to do what ever i have got to do few the next few years, then once miles and time are collected i will apply for coke, pepsi, budwiser, etc.

Yes thank you!, I just wasn't exactly sure because you didn't have an explanation, just the website lol.

So when it comes to fill out apps to get "pre-hires" then i can send one to them in hopes i get hired!? =)
