Beware of New Crete Carrier Corp. practice. A trucker friend of mine was abandoned or put out of service about 1000 miles from his home and he had to rent a car at his own expense so he could take his truck gear home. They were not considerate enough to get him a load home even though he requested it. What was the reason he was put out of service? Crete now screens drivers who may have a specified BMI or state in a mandatory survey that they snore sometimes. This automatically triggers a mandatory sleep study for sleep apnea. The DOT does not require this sleep study and no other company requires this now. My friend was presented with an option to take a sleep study with his own doctor or team of medical professionals using his own insurance but then later he was told this was NOT an option and he needed to take the sleep study immediately at a terminal without the option to seek other medical professionals. Crete rejects the sleep study diagnosis of another medical professional who is not contracted by them. After the Crete driver was forced to turn in his truck they charged him a significant cleaning fee simply because he was not at his home terminal and did not have the ability or resources to leave the truck completely spotless. The truck was left clean. However, the trucks they had previously assigned to him were filthy and disgusting and he had to spend much time cleaning them before he could use them. I advised him he needed to leave that company and never look back. Most trucking companies just put on a front about being the best out there and all companies have their own problems.

Last I checked...I believe it's illegal for an employer to require to use their doctor and not allow you to use your own.

Crete is going down like a plane with no engines anyway thanks to the moron running the company.....

I see you know the company well.:biggrin_25523: Tonn reminds me of Larry Coker. He was handed a Ferrari and is turning it into a Yugo. It's bad enough that drivers are already over regulated, but to try and stay ahead of the compliance curve makes no sense at all. A waste of money and it just aggravates the drivers.

It is also illegal to take money out of your check (other than taxes) that you do not authorize.

    arni and jon69 Thank this.

I'm not saying that what you have written is not true, nor do I dispute that Crete may be on a downward spiral, because I do not have first hand knowledge of either.

However when someone signs up on this forum and immediately makes this type of statement for their first post, I look at it with some doubt in my mind.

A true skeptic hardly believes anything at all and perhaps questions his own existence ... (a branch of philosophy called metaphysics)

However, an experienced driver will read between the lines and determine if it is wise to join a carrier before he joins. Everyone's situation is different. It is good that forums like this allow drivers to hear what other drivers have to say about a company. It is one step above the trial and error approach of having unshared personal experiences. People are more willing to complain of a bad experience than they are willing to write a wonderful review about a company or an employee. Who cares about rave recruiter reviews anyway? "Our company is number 1"

Every driver expects to be treated right.

The truth is no one is holding you back from joining Crete.

If you're older and heavier than average, your sleep study experience with Crete will be an interesting story to hear about on this forum. This was just a courteous "heads up" post for those who are considering losing weight before joining Crete. I am slim and I also snore but my friend is heavier. Generally, the older and heavier you are the greater the chance you will be diagnosed with sleep apnea. If a driver is not experiencing troubling symptoms, why should they be forced to test for sleep apnea when an expensive D.O.T. study says it doesn't make a driver more accident prone?

This may be one way a company gets rid of older, fatter people when their drivers fail to use their corrective c-pap or bi-pap equipment every night. The sensor chip will report how many hours the equipment was used. Other companies will not necessarily welcome drivers diagnosed with sleep apnea and drivers will have a hard time proving discrimination in hiring practices.

Yes, for a first post it would be nice to paint a company beautiful with little flowers, rolling green hills, and strawberry fields. Well, in the real trucker world the horror stories are plentiful. You may have a good future as a Crete recruiter. $1000 per recruit is good money! If you're a skeptic ... maybe not. Good Luck!

Drove for Crete for 8 years. No tickets, accidents, failed drug or alcohol screens. Most loads delivered early, very few late delivers. Reason for termination. They asked me for an ETA. My answer, " my Crystal Ball is in the Pawn Shop". But to be fair I constantly accused them of the conspiracy to deny the miles drivers were expected to run in order to qualify for their yearly raise or the quarterly bonus. But it was cool for them to steal my time off or cause me to miss personal appointments

the only thing about Crete carrier I had issue with I saw is you need your own GPS I used randy rand McNally it's overpriced but I like it only had one issue one place ever and its a place I will never return to unless they want to kiss my arse. Having a 2nd GPS is always good and all but requiring drivers get one for their trucks is a big no-no for me some people can't afford that crap when you have bills and starting a new job.

Smart truckers want a camera period rather its to see outside or inside during an accident because the deck is stacked against us. Don't give them an inch to prove it was you. If your super trucker by all means just ignore this continue watching porn while driving or a movie or w/e'll see you on the news sometime or another maybe youtube.
