I met an owner operator in Florida a couple of months ago. He hauls cabinets out and brokers something to get back home in Minnesota. He always has about 14 or so stops on his outbound freight. He does very well with his runs. He told me that most owner operators at his company don't like dealing with all the stops. I believe he told me that he has been doing pretty much the same thing for over a decade. If you get your rhythm it doesn't take all that long to get those partials off the truck.

I submitted my application to Landstar today, hope it doesn't take too long to get approved, or not.
Been sitting here in SLC for a little more than a 34. Had a couple load offers, 1 was good, going to Los Angeles but they yanked it off before it even hit my qualcomm (saw it on cell phone text message first). Then the next load offer was to go to Cheyenne Wy. I don't think so lol, 100 mile per hour winds to go thru to get there. So now I sit 'punished', no loads available at all they tell me.. I am interested in being my own planner/dispatcher, I believe I can do better than that.
Landstar sent me a load sheet for my home area. I saw a load from shipper to receiver that I have done before, offered at $2.24 a mile before fuel surcharge. My company is making a killing snagging that and paying me just $.92 before fsc. Yeah, I'm ready to move on.SHC Thanks this. -

it didn't take LS long to contact me.
two problems i had though. is that employment verification B.S. as none of my previous companies would turn it in. and the fact that i had only been 6 months back on the road. they wanted 1 year and 100,000 miles.
i've now driven 125,000 miles but still have 3 months to go.
