    Hello,

Well I am thinking about starting a trucking career.

Anyways I need your advice, we have a local guy who does personal training, one on one and the cost is $700.00 that is from the beginning to end to the road trip and test to get your CDL class A. That is not a bad price after checking other schools in our state that want to charge $4000.00

So my question is, will the trucking companies accept that, since its not a formal school? But I will have a CDL just no OTR experience. Or will they make me attend there schooling and the $700.00 would be a waste? Any advice would be great!

    Thanks

Wasting your money, most companies want sone kind of accredited school. Even though all they usually do is train you to pass your CDL test. Think of it as the "first" way of being scammed in the industry. It certainly won't be your last.

The only way I would suggest you pay some dude 700 bucks for "personal training" is if you already have a company lined up that will accept that training and employ you. Depending on your trucking goals you might be better off putting that money towards a school or using that money to eat while you go the company sponsored route.

Although that doesn't sound like a bad hustle for someone who owns a truck and has a CDL a tax free 700 bucks get a couple of suckers err I mean students a day and you might be on to something.

So you are going to pay some truck driver 700.00 to drive his truck while he sits in the easy chair.

Most of the companies that offer training will only cost you $1,000-$1,500 if you stick it out with them for a year or two. That's not all that much more then $700.00 and once you get experience other companies will look better on that then some dude with a truck. Sure you will get paid next to nothing from these companies but it's better then spending $700 to get a CDL that you can't use.

Yeah I have decided not to... Now the fun part is researching which company to go with... I keep reading the good and bad of every company and of course I need to figure out who screwed themselves and thats why they hate that company...

Don't choose a company according to another drivers experience. You are going to get just as many na's as ya's! Make a list of your personal wants and needs and then find a company that is going to best suit those.
