Most quit after a month because their job is too save the company money. I think we all are familiar with how they accomplish that goal. Some people have no desire too shaft hard working people. The shareholders rule at Knight.
-
well... my current dispatcher just started with Knight... he said that Knight has a super unusual and difficult dispatching/DM system... I wouldn't know.

Smaggs,If you quit I do wish you the best. This is typical company B.S... Basically from all big companies...If I were you, I would put in some apps for local companies. But make sure that you have enough experience. I have been following your post for a while now. I drive for a larger company & do know how you feel @times.
Tell me why you have to "T-Call" so much? Is it to try & get paid for it so quickly?
Does Knight pay you more than once a week? If so. That could be the problem. Try & get your pay 1 time a week(If you can do that).
Do you TransFlo most of you bills? Or basically in that format? If so keep your bills & Scale tickets until paid for them. My company only reinburses after $20 or 2 weeks which ever comes first.
I am currently on medical leave due to a possible heart attack & want to go back on the road. But have to get medical clearance first.
Wish you the best & try to get to Louisville,Ky for the MATS2012 show, for some good time & the ability to get to talk to some other companies there.
Sorry in advance for any typos -
Smagg, we are bouncing around with the same DMs. I'll give the new guy 2 more weeks before he walks as well. LoL

I'm not going to just quit. I want to be sure I'm a worthy investment to my next employer. I LOVE to work. Especially when I'm earning honest pay and you know... it's just nice to be the breadwinner of the household! I've spent my whole adulthood in poverty until now.The Challenger, moloko and roadiez Thank this. -
Got weekly pay and daily. and we transflo all paperwork.
Deductions only shows advances and lumpers. Taxes are in another section to its self aswell as medical. I can only guess that daily pay is another monster with the paystubs.roadiez Thanks this. -
If you have 9 months in with them I would try my best to get that other 3 months in..Even an extra 30 days if possible. That way Knight can't screw you on the time in their own system & D.A.C.
My Ex-Brother In-Law worked there for about a year & had nothing but problems. Although I think it was him more than anything..He had a very foul mouth on him & would curse his FM through the Qualcom.
I also think he was on that "Daily-Pay" thing also..But I did talk him out of doing the "Per Diem" @ that time due to his wanting to refi the house & such..
Right now with the company I am with there is no way to opt out of the per diem. But they(My Company) doesn't do like Knight & take that extra 2 cents for themselves... So that does help me out & some of the financials I am dealling with.
Also you mentioned recently about the other driver that totally screwed you with the flats & such... Did yo take pics of it? I know that you mentioned that you sent a msg to your FM. But do you have a good repore with somebody in you maint.? Might want to get an email address to send in some pics & msgs. to them. I try to do that when possible even if I don't really know them. Just to cover my own rear-end in advance.Smaggs Thanks this. -
smaggs look into pulling a flat or a tanker. With just 8-9 months exp your options are still pretty limited to the sheety Van/Reefer companies. (translation: Unless its a SMALL 100 or less trucks...vans/reefers suck, some arent as bad as others but 99% of van/reefer companies TOP out at .42-.44cpm......which sucks, considering the wait time, and weird hours, dirtbag shippers/receivers)
Flats/Tanks can get you home allot more and makeing allot more money, plus at least for flatbed the non driving part is fun. Tanker just bascily a higher paid door slammer just with a more dangerous job (tank jobs can lead to AWESOME paying local gigs.....)
There is probably other specalized stuff in your area too....Oil field, local car hauling (adesa), containers (dont start speaking mexican if you pulll containers....its not part of the job haha

I might be done. I had my exhaust blow out in Ohio right after passing the border to Ohio from PA on I-80. I was doing a regen cycle on my exhaust and a bunch of smoke started coming out from under the truck, instead of out the exhaust stack.
I called it in and my DM told me to "roll down my windows and keep driving"
I smelled a burning smell inside my cab. Further inspection shows nothing was burning, so I must be smelling the exhaust. If that's the case, I shouldn't move the truck, right?
He transferred me to the breakdown line, but I got no answer and the line puts me to a voicemail that isn't set up, so I can't leave a message for them.
This happened Friday afternoon. It is now Saturday evening. Fortunately, I happen to have friends a few miles from the stop where I parked to investigate my exhaust. I can see the leak, but can't reach it to see the whole pipe to see how bad it is. It actually looks like it has been repaired before and wore out. I'm not sure about this, but it seems to be a logical guess. I'll try to get a photo of it.
I'm sitting here, because I don't want to drive with a leaky exhaust. I can actually hear the exhaust has gotten a bit louder.
I think it was the 9% grades I did in PA. I was running a bit hotter than usual on the turbo temperature gauge. It wasn't in the red, but it was around the 600 degree mark. The red starts above 1200 degrees.
So I haven't heard anything back. Just to be safe, I grabbed my personal stuff out and had my friends take it to their house, which is very close to my truck. If they won't fix it, I'm asking for a new truck. If they won't come to me to repair it or bring me a new truck, then I will resign and find my own way home to Phoenix.
I can't wait to see what they say to me on Monday when I'm still sitting here. I'm not going to drive the truck like that. I have a cousin that drives for FedEx. He was instructed to shut down by FedEx and he had the exact same part of his exhaust go on him. Just behind the turbo, but before the regen canister.
Also... I'm tired of the Knight numbers constantly leaving me hanging on hold. They (automated system) either hang up on me or lead me to voice mail that can't be used and then it says "goodbye" and hangs up on me!!!
I'm tired of everything being such a struggle. Low miles. low pay and too much confusion when I break down.Jarhed1964 Thanks this.
