Per diem also has a 2% AGI floor before you can itimize this deduction. It works the same as the medical expenses deduction which has a 7.5% AGI floor.

That means if your AGI is 60,000.00 for the year the first $1200.00 of the per diem deduction is lost altogether. Everything over and above that 2% floor will be deductible.

I would suggest what rocknroll81 did and send another email. Let me know if they reply or not.

How is it going for you now you've been there a few weeks, JD? Miles good?

It is going good. Kind of feels like trucking used to be, but better. There's always a backhaul waiting on the other end. None of the "call me back in an hour" stuff. Except for backhauls in Texas, they will call you the day before your delivery with backhaul info. Then it's up to you to follow through with contacting the b roker for the details.

For the most part the miles are good. On the weeks I don't go home I'm getting close to 3k miles +/-. Add to that the stop pay & even with my home time, which has been more than I'm used too, & my avg weekly pay is still over $1200. I've had several pay checks close to $1500 just for six or seven days work. One week was over $1900 for a seven day run. I figure $65k is going to be my income this year, & that's without working too hard.

My current run, I left Grand Prairie last Thursday & made a stop in Lufkin,TX that morning, what is called a "mom & pop" because it is not a major DC. It was a contractor supply store & had no dock. They got 12 pallets that had to be pulled to the rear of the trailer with a pallet puller. Took all of 45 minutes & paid an extra $25. The next two stops were at Publix Warehouses in Lakeland & Sarasota, both on Sunday morning. Friday afternoon backhaul dispatch called me with info for the load I was picking up in Stockbridge,GA Monday morning. So once empty I way on my way north. I was loaded within two hours of my appointment & headed for my delivery in San Antonio on Wednesday (tomorrow) morning. Since that's my home 20 guess where I am tonight. With the mileage, so,& pallet pull pay I've made $1450 so far on this trip. Not bad for six days of work & a night at home.
