Actually they never told me that scale policy in orientation. Besides exact same amount of bundles and everything as last time, just got it about two feet too far back on the deck this time I guess. 1180 over on the trailer, gave me a warning. It's under gross at least. I'm going to call and see what can be done in the am. Permits maybe.

policy is to Never cross a state scale until you go to a certified scale even if you have to drive OOR or the wrong way to get to one. Oviously common sense needs to be used, if your not 150% sure always scale it, they WILL NOT pay overweight tickets, and its a BIG deal here. I cant remember if there was a company punishment/penalty or something if you get a ticket. At least the cop was nice and only gave you a warning.

Yes it's because im so freaking polite! Anyway evn though there arent many scales left and id actually be legal in the last two states I'm not going to risk it. Work way too hard for that money and I have learned a lesson, hopefully without too much repercussion.

Edit - the cop gave me a level 3 and that of course came out fine other than weight

That is, of course, unless the state you're currently rolling through allows, say, 36K on tandem axles. Then you know you're legal if you happen upon an open scale before you can get an opportunity to weigh it.
