i am from miami Fl.. there is a CW terminal close from where i live,after seeing good reviews about the company ..so, me and my cousin decided to go to Con Way to drive as a team...But now my cousin decided not to team with me , he got a new job....
so now i will be driving solo...
should i go solo OTR with conway...or...go directly to con way freight..?....
i dont mind to be in the road 3, 6 or 8 week OTR...but i know for sure i will be going to do it for 1yr and after that i would like to be a Trainer for student,,i mean if they really pay good.... i heard they get paid good , ( trainer miles and student miles ).
BUT.. If i go OTR and then decide to go freight...i know i will be starting from the bottom and i will waste that year on OTR.i know it is all about senority.
so..what u guys from con way recomend me ..?..

Ohh..my reason to go CW freight is because by the time ur in, u will get paid good....
but i think they will ask OTR experience..?...not sure....
BUT,,BUT....if i go to con way OTR as a solo and i am gettin good miles and my pay check is no less then 1k weekly taking home....i will stay..

Less than 1 year experience [according to your info box]...and you are thinking of being a trainer after 1 year? And your focus on training is for the money?
To teach something first you need the experience and knowledge of what it is you want to teach. To do it for the money....NAH...a good teacher cares about teaching, the money is actually second or less on the priority list! -
well i like to teach,,i am good at learning...first year driving is enough to learn and teach...
and hell yeah , if they pay good as a trainer of course its for the money...
Do you know how many people are getting paid good,, but really good money..and they dont like the job or what they do...and they just there for the MONEY.... just like 70% of the population.... -
But do you really think you will have a sufficient amount of knowledge in just one year to pass on knowledge about this industry to a rookie? Almost like the not so blind leading the blind.
From what a good friend told me...he drives for CW...I think I remember him telling me that CW requires a bit more than 1 year experience to become a trainer....either 3 or 5 years total experience.
But they are running his butt in the ground, his miles have been good so far! -

The bottom line is...are you teaching (training) to teach, or for the money?
There is a big difference! I know! Been a trainer for well over 13 years....and I have had the opportunity to have to "re-teach" many who thought they had been "taught" by someone who really didn't know enough to teach.mgt1085 and lonewolf4ad Thank this. -
I grew up in trucking, I've driven farm equipment for harvest season, and have a little over 2 years experience solo. There is no way I would try and teach anything beyond what is needed to pass the CDL test. I don't know half of what is needed to pass on, and am still learning alot myself.
