I will be attending school in Rochester NY and would like to stay in the area. Anyone know of any companies locally that will hire right out of school? This site is a great reference and thanks to all who post!

I just got picked up by Reddaway. All regional... My first CDL driving job since I got my CDL a few months back.

Con-way Freight hires and trains drivers from ZERO experience. If you want to make the money, go with an LTL carrier, you may not drive very many miles, but you will make the money. I net over $1000.00 a week, and you can to if you are a good safe worker.

Con-way freight is hiring there. They are home everyday.

Yeah she is right and if you have a family member or friend who is a trucker and has a good rep with their employer and your not a loser and willing to work, they can sometimes talk the employer into letting them use one of the trucks to train you but they may want you to go work for them to do this. My father wanted me to go to Lubbock where he is and let him train me with his company but that would have meant me pulling my kids out of school etc. so I went with a contract for otr and hate it but it keeps my kids set in one place. Also, where my dad is he says there are a couple of places that will hire you to train you right away for CDL because they are hurting for drivers but because it is lot of hours so they can't keep people, my dad drives a Saltwater truck( I'm guessing that's what they call it, don't get mad I'm still learning) I have never really asked him what it is called all I know is he is out all the time. He worked for another oil field company for years that always needed help and would do that too because they could not keep help but I don't know why because my dad made good money there and had most weekends off. If you are in the Lubbock or Post Texas area the oilfield company name is BOF where my dad used to work where they might can train you and they will be hard on you at first to make sure you will stay but after a while will let up on you, my dad says it is easy work and I know very good pay, he would bring home about 1300-1400 a week and he was one of the lesser payed ones.
