Ha. My truck dash has already rattled apart.

It's SUPER BUMPY. I drove a Freightliner Columbia and that thing was smooth...
The turning radius is pretty sweet, but I don't really need it THAT badly.
An APU would be nice. I have to idle to keep myself from stroking out in my sleep. By the way, I never get a bonus. Neither does anyone else from Phoenix. Trust me, I ask the other drivers.
They're constantly asking me for "favors". They even wanted me to do a run without a trip number on it... I do it and I'm still fighting for my pay. Today my DM says I got paid, but that's BS, it didn't go through. Payroll... man I'd love to walk in there and start flipping desks over and breaking monitors until I felt like I got my money's worth.
I'm the idiot for doing the favor, though.
I have learned NEVER do anything without SEEING it on your qualcomm and accepting it VIA macro. If you don't, the "favor" will turn into a nightmare and then you will have to beg for two weeks to hopefully get your toll money back and your mileage/local pay.
I have also learned NEVER walk into the office when you've arrived to take home time. You will be barraged with people begging you to do "favors" and local runs. I make it a point NEVER to walk in there during the day. If I need paperwork (checks/tripsheets/seals) I get them late at night. I get in, I get out.
Also. Never leave anything personal in your truck. Knight says they don't slip seat, but that is a giant load of ####. I turned my truck in for ONE day and it got taken and I had to clean some other guy's crap out later. It was FULL as if the guy that used it for a day moved in permanently. Stunk, too.
That, and I took home time and some other driver opened my truck (the keys are universal, so anyone else can enter your ride and steal your stuff) and for some unknown reason, stole the brake knobs... SERIOUSLY... my BRAKE KNOBS!!!! WHYYYYYYY??????
I've been asking to have my brakes fixed on my tractor. They squeal and are dangerously close to the minimum wear. I even tried brake parts cleaner. Nope! Still squeals like a pig when I stop. This is extra annoying at check points.
I asked for a new truck today. If I have to sit on this tractor again, I'm out. I'm tired of sitting around waiting for Knight to NOT fix my truck.
I'm on my way to PHX in the morning to drop this tractor off. I'll be there after hours to drop it and I'm going home, though I don't want to. I need miles and money. I'm trying to move and get on with my life, but saving money is just about impossible with this job.
The Phoenix yard DMs have their little favorite drivers that they give dedicated drop and hook to, while I sit in Los Angeles or some other weird area doing short haul and sitting around.
I'm definitely on the hunt for something better. I'm the last of many drivers I know that still works for Knight. All of my friends that drive think I'm a fool for continuing to do this job. I'm starting to agree with them.
When I finally do switch jobs, I'm definitely changing my phone number. I have friends that quit almost 9 months ago that STILL get calls begging to get them back!RizenPhoenix and Dipschitt Thank this. -
On another note. I get multiple calls every day from my girlfriend, my mother and other drivers begging me to quit and find something better. I know I will. It's just hard when you're out on the road. Can't exactly walk in for an interview while I'm six states away! Oh well....
dis-grunt-led.
WHEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
There aren't to many face to face interviews in trucking. When there are, they will fully understand your current situation.

sammycat Thanks this.

roadiez Thanks this.

That is true but driving for Knight will not prevent someone from finding a new job. Put in some apps, make some phone calls, tell Knight your going home for five days and go knock on doors. Some drivers just make excuses, some drivers find better jobs.
RizenPhoenix and Smaggs Thank this. -
