    ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN PRETRIP!
I can't tell you how many drivers that I have worked with that never do a pre or posttrip.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

He has never worked for a mega junk hauler and therefore doesn't know that junk trailers and all the associated problems are ALWAYS passed onto the next guy. I'd even be willing to bet he's shocked that this is S.O.P. at the CDL mills. After a number of years dealing with that nonsense I wised up and simply found a small company to work for.

    CAXPT and MNdriver Thank this.

Also I'll add that all of these stupid schemes hatched at the corporate level to curb dropped piles of trash...DO NOT WORK. Junk haulers are secretly greatfull that ANYONE would drive for them and will not fine or fire a driver for dropping junk UNLESS they want that driver to quit. Clever way to avoid paying unemployment benefits.

Don't be so dismissive! The chap has done well, he's obviously ambitious and got plenty of drive, he'll do it!

Well done windsmith, I'm happy for you, you've a good attitude and you will achieve your goal!

Prior to driving, I spent 20 years in the financial sector. Let me assure you windsmith know not of what he speaks.

That doesn't relieve one from doing a proper pretrip. Some states require this by law.

Pretty sure that broken crossmembers for the suspension area will fall under the "in safe operating condition " catch all phrase.

My O/O friend who's trucked for 37 years, SAFELY, told me these exact words, almost verbatim.

That's not BS. That's what a driver does.

A couple weeks ago I was at a terminal waiting for an MT and they told me to pick one up that was still in the service bay. They had just completed the DOT inspection on it. I still did a thorough pre-trip and found a bad marker light.

You really seem like one of those guys that doesn't learn from their mistakes. Quit making excuses. When you make a mistake own it and remember to not make that mistake again. Right now you are serving as an example of why training companies are a good thing.

Spamalot, bagman12002 and Dragonfly619 Thank this.
