Celadon Trucking is purchasing a portion of the assets of USA Dry Van of McAllen, Texas, reinforcing its driver pool and increasing its U.S.-Mexico business.
The acquisition, terms of which were not disclosed, is the latest in a string of purchases by Celadon over the past year aimed at expanding its driver roster.
Since last October, Celadon has acquired the assets, though not operations, of Glen Moore, American Eagle, Teton Transportation and, in June, Hiner Transport.
Those acquisitions increased the Indianapolis-based Celadon Trucking’s average seated tractor count by 7.2 percent in the second quarter, the company said.
The Indianapolis-based carrier’s average number of seated line-haul tractors rose to 2,808 in the June 30 quarter, compared with 2,620 tractors a year ago.
“When we make an acquisition, we buy the tractors and then sell them off as quickly as we can,” Chairman and CEO Steve Russell said in an interview earlier this year.

 

Thanks for proving that Celadon did buy "a portion of the assets of USA Dry Van".
As to drivers being adversely affected & sent home, I'll just have to take it with a grain of salt because we know drivers always tell all the facts. (I'm referring to the driver who gave you the info, not you.)

 

I think we must have the wrong USA...the USA we all know(with the military styled star logo) isn't based out of Mcallen...they're out of Van Buren, AR... And they're called USA Truck. The one Celedon bought must be a different company. This info was on 'The Trucker dot com' website today...along with a picture of one of our new 'Patriot fleet' trucks....footnote, I just looked up USA Dry Van, they are NOT the same as the USA Truck company...they were a small transportation and logistics company on the border. They recently emerged from bankruptcy.

 

Not to change the subject but I just wanted to interject that I am sitting in Vegas...nanner nanner boo boo! Days Inn by Wild West T/S is cheap and not bad at all for less than forty bux.

 

I know, i just wanted to show you that I did do the research. The whole truth, who knows....its like you said.

 

I stayed at a Days Inn in Texas last week. Was over twice that much. Since the oil field jobs hit everything has gone way up and their opinion is take it or leave it cause they are full every night.

Since I live in SOTEX & have been buy their terminal on numerous occasions,i can tell you they have nowhere near 500 trucks, & all their drivers (that I've seen) are not white. Nothing derogatory ment, only giving a description.

 

if your approaching 2000mi your doing better then most....most drivers i know are lucky to get 1800wk...6yrs i was avg 1500-2000wk..since i left 3000mi a wk is a bad wk..i del trailers....im in NY headed to CA..i cudnt handle that 300-400mi "TRIP" east of the mississippi....good luck in NK lol

 

I average around 11000 miles/month, and have pretty much since I started at Crete. I do stay out 21-24 days at a time, but almost never have less than 2500 unless I have a breakdown or hometime.

 

They had 489 trucks and 478 drivers according to FMCSA.
