That would be nice. I've been in the shop for almost a full week.

The fantastic news? I'm getting $100 a day to sit here... the bad news? I'd make a lot more if I were rolling. The compromise? At least I'm still getting money. Not as much as I'd like, but when I had truck/trailer issues with Knight, they'd refuse to pay breakdown and layover. I'm better off with this new job.

I would seriously like to get back to where I was. Playing bass in bands and having a regular day job. Why? I speak with veteran drivers (started trucking during the 60s and 70s) and when I listen to their logic, it makes me sick of the trucking industry. It's just not what it was way back before my time in life.

Sometimes I feel like I was born about 30 years too late, but oh well.

The more time you spend away from truck drivers who do nothing but beach and moan about everything under the sun, the better off you're gonna be. It doesn't matter how good or how bad a company is, you could give drivers everything a driver could ever want from a company, and they will still find something to whine and complain about. Listening to that BS just makes a bad situation seem worse. Stay away from other drivers when possible and do your own thing. Otherwise you're just gonna become just as toxic as they are.

I figured that out last night. I bailed out of the yard and got a motel room. I walked into the lounge, saw too many people and headed down to the break area. The only guys here with me are shop guys on break. They're quiet, which is nice.

If knight is as bad as you say they are, I'm surprised you didn't learn that when you were over there lol

Fully agree with this. The last 2 years I've stayed away from the drivers lounges and truckstop restaurants and just keep myself occupied with my gadgets and I'm 100% content.

I always hate to walk through a lounge area of a terminal and have to listen to the guys talking. It's always just a bunch of bull,,, And I mean idiotic crap....And I always think,,, if you put everyones IQ together in that lounge area,, it would be about 20...I try to stay far away from anybody....Period..

The worst were the Knight lounges. Most looked like skid row. Fully agree, I'm either on the road working or at home. I've never even been interested in side trips while out on the road. I need to work and get home.
