What doesn't get boring if you do it enough? O.K.O.K.-I'm not talking about "THAT." From past experience I was bored on a forklift, bored running a printing press(EXTREMELY). Bored in a sawmill,I was one bored flat-roofer and the cops I see in my hometown are bored-however the bakery owner is very happy because of this..

With OTR if I am bored it is by choice. What I mean is I cannot tell you how many times I am at a T.S.,check my GPS on restaurants, clubs, gyms, movie theaters etc. with-in walking distance-and decide what to do accordingly. As I leave I see many driver's staring out their windshield- what they "see" I really have no idea.

When I return 2-4 hours later many are still just staring out the window. What I'm trying to say is there is plenty to do if one wants to do it. But of course to each their own.

And if one doesn't like to drive...what the hell is he/she considering being a Trucker for? This condition of not knowing one's self may explain when as a roofer new people came to work with a fear of heights.:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2559:

Gets extremely boring when your MP3 player dies... Or you left your phone charger at home (already bought 3 of them this year). Usually having a two way convo/argument with myself kills the time for a few miles. Best part is, I always win.

Good god almighty what did we ever do without mp3's and cell phones. Oh that's right pull the 8 tracks out and ply them till you could sing the songs by heart. That's if you could hear them over the road noise in the summer cause both windows were down. In the winter the heater fans were so loud your were deaf in half a day. The old trucks kept you busy just driving them. And I mean driving not just holding the steering wheel

Yeah, I am 29. Been driving only for a few years. Maybe it is just me, or maybe it is just our generation of younger drivers. Call me spoiled and pampered, I once turned around and drove back 30 miles home to grab my Zune. Can't imagine having to deal with all the stuff you old timers had to deal with. I still can't get our mechanics to fix my AC.

I don't run around with a radio on. I also don't run around with a blue tooth on my ear unless I am talking to someone.

I enjoy the scenery and the view of the road out the windshield.

Granted i have only been doing this for a short time....
    But....i freaking love driving.
Went to a truck driving school, got my license, found a company to drive for.
Went out with a trainer.....right out the gate...very first load....from the home terminal to san antonio! i drove the whole way, trainer told me, i wanna see what you know, how well you can handle the road and this rig. I was hooked!
Went solo, got my truck, then got a newer truck.....a week and a half later.....
AND I HAVE BEEN LOVING IT!!

Driving down the road....always something to look at...my truck is governed to 62 mph...im always getting passed....so there are always vehicles passing me, always something to look at!
I am proud to call myself a Flatbedder, so i am always doing something. When i unload, gotta pull tarps, gotta fold them, gotta wind my straps or put away chains and binders. When im loading, again, always doing something, securing the load, getting my tarps out, tarping the load, bungying the load.
    Load, unload, driving....always doing something....or sleeping...well....its sleeping!

I guess my point is....its only boring if you let yourself BECOME bored!
With technology today....good god, laptops, cell phones, sirius radio, THE CB...not always the BEST source of entertainment...but a classic!
Sometimes i will turn the radio off, the cb off, a/c on low, roll down the window and drive the entire day, just listening to the engine and the wind going down the road....always checking my mirrors, traffic ahead, traffic behind, just enjoying the open road!

Im never bored....because i dont let myself GET bored.
And get this....i dont even have a tv in my truck!

    Keep on truckin....

It's hours and hours of boredom, sometimes interrupted by sheer moments of terror.
