$15 it'll bring way more than that scrap value!? I pulled it out with a chain.. Doesn't look so bad... I tell myself that anyways..

Well just got off the phone with chris from mercer and I think I'm just going to start job hunting again he said they do very little oversize loads (that's how I make good money now) and steps are averaging $1.68 a mile for the last 30 days he said some do make more than that but not always.
I can't make money at $1.68 a mile how can anyone? Seems like trucking is going backwards I use to make real good money $6-10,k a week every week and was turning down freight everyday because I was so busy now a super good week is $6,k but I see more $3,k weeks than anything I think I should be paid for what I'm worth company drivers are making $.52 a mile I should make that but when your cost is $1.47 a mile you have to run over $2.00 a mile and even with that I'm just making a living company is not making any frofit
I understand lanes have different prices that's why I talk avrages some lanes I leave at $3.00 a mile and come back at $1.50 a mile so that in my eyes is $2.25 a mile and you always have D/H miles you don't drop than pick up your next load next door (that's only happen once) so no matter what I need to make over $2.00 a mile loaded because your dead head miles wile bring that down 20%brodgers Thanks this. -
I will give Mercer credit for giving it to you straight. How many companies would have told you what you wanted to hear? Shoot me an email with contact information. I have a couple hot shot companies in TX that have intrastate freight. Haven't hauled for them but others that have speak highly of them.

i dont know why anyone would go from independant to lease unless forced to. you just got to find the work and sell it. i wss independant a long time ago i just dont think i want to do it again. you have to know your strengths and weaknesses and i know i am not a good salesman. i dont like dealing with people and hate hagling. i give my rate and dont negotiate from there and thats not a good way to make friends. i hate playing the game or ask more then you need and haggle it out. i dont work that way
