Hey, no problem Ozzzzzzzzy. Glad to post things on here when I get a chance. They like to ask a lot of questions about previous jobs and why you left or whatever. I'm not sure how much they put in to all that part. I just believe they want to get a feel for your experience. Besides, I believe it gives you a chance to explain your position a little better. Your driving MVR and criminal background are a lot more important. They'll ask you a lot of the same questions when you go to the Face to Face. Nice thing with Face to Face you can ask them questions about this or that...in other words if you think that part you mentioned about being laid off hurts you then just ask them if it does. Hope you hear back for a Face to Face. Good Luck!

Hey Mike, hang in there. I've come to learn that driving positions here at Poly are a lot different than most other places. Remember, they only have a little over 300 drivers. It's not as simple as a lot of places to get on. That doesn't mean it's hard either. Just understand this...turnover isn't a big thing here. They are just increasing their staff of drivers a little. They don't usually have a lot of drivers being hired. I'm not sure how to say it best. Keep your fingers crossed they give you a call. Not everyone is going to get on but that certainly doesn't mean YOU won't. You'll find that each person you speak with has a lot of job duties. Believe me they take a lot of calls every day. Key for you is to leave very detailed messages when you call them. If you say "Hey this is Mike, give me a call" you may not hear back very well. Not saying that is your case but I've seen that happen to other applicants. Hope they give you the call. I just got to pick my first load and it's good to be out rolling again. Orientation was a lot of information. Glad to get back to doing what I do out here. Been very good so far. Glad I made the move! Good Luck Mike! Hope you get to join us! :)

As far as background checks, the DOT requires a company to examine 10 years of your history...if any gaps in driving jobs they will require an explanation...sometimes proof of time away from trucking. If laid off and not otherwise employed, then unemployment statements should be satisfactory. When I first moved to FL, I spent 8 months without a regular income...I was buying my house through my dad, so I had very few bills and made due with local farm labor and odd jobs I could pick up here and there...when I got hired and trained to drive by the chicken processing company...and then moved to a regular trucking job a few years later, I had to jump through hoops with paperwork to prove that my time off wasn't spent doing something illegal, or that I wasn't a guest of the state or federal penal system. Once I had that done, I was hired by my 1st commercial carrier and things have gone smoothly the other few times I have changed companies...

Hey Thanks Majestyk! The focus of my maiden voyage was to get me through my house to get more of my stuff. I had a few choices so that was nice. I chose a load that gets me through the house and still requires I run well to deliver on time. If everything works out to plan I'm going to have a very good first week on miles. Load is from Grand Prairie to two stops in up state New York. Backhaul is suppose to be back to big D. I can complete the whole loop before Payrol cuts off so I'm looking at about 3500miles in 7 days. Going to be a nice start if everything works out to plan. I wanted the Florida load that was offered but it wouldn't get me through my house. Probably try a Florida load next time out if available. Thanks again for the nice words and be safe in your travels.
