I heard from reliable sources that there will be several FLATBED TRAINERS that will be filling in for the lack of TCD trainers. Those of you TCD recruits might very well end up in a Flatbed truck for training period, however, will only be doing drive training not the flatbed/securement stuff.

I am considering joining Maverick in the Spring if they will have me. It has been over ten years since I last drove a truck so I am having to start this process all over again...truck driving school, first hiring process, orientation, ride with trainer, and build relationship with FM and carrier. I know it will be worth it in the end because I have tried my hand at a couple of professions and none have worked out. I have diesel in my veins and no matter how much I fight it the road keeps calling. I would like to get on in the TCD but if their are no opening I have been to pull a skate board a time or two. Those of you in the TCD do any of you guys run through Illinois very much on I-55 or I-57? I live in town called Decatur Illinois which is right in the middle of both of those interstates right in the middle of the state. I am wondering if this would be a good location for hometime in the TCD fleet. I have hauled glass before and there is a PPG plant 10 minutes from my house so I am pretty sure I would be good to go on the glass division. I am actualy sort of torn between the two. If I chose to glass can I switch to TCD if decide I would rather pull the refer.

I sort of figured it might be because when I drove a truck before I never had a problem getting through the house every weekend pulling flatbed. I normally ran to NYC every week out of BeeLine down in Highland Ill by St Louis and take it out to NYC and I never had problem finding my back to either St Louis or Chicago. It has been a while since I threw a tarp and I am 12 years older too. Still not for sure what I will end up doing just yet. I am not for sure if Maverick will even hire me at this point. They gave me a pre hire years ago but I chose to stay where I was because at the time I was going to go into their first lease purchase program. This was when the lease purchase guys got primary colored freightliner classics and ran out west. I had always been a midwest to east coast guy so I thought why fix something that was not broken. I have not worked since September of last year. My wife works and I have been trying to decide what I wanted to do. I had been working as a funeral director and funeral sales since I quit driving but all those tears finally took its toll on me and I had to find a new line of work. I chose to do HVAC but once I started school this summer I found that all I can expect to make is 10/hr and I might be at 20/hr in 7-10 years. That is too long for me and I even if I did I would still probably still wanna be out on the road. That feeling never leaves you. Sewerman does Maverick offer a referral bonus? If so send me your info and I will add it on my ap for you since you was the first guy to respond that is if you drive for Maverick.
