You'll love them. What are you familiar with? Search "13 speed" on youtube and you should get a lot of guidance there.

    These are sort of good

In many downhill and empty situations, you can sometimes forget about splitting the direct/od making it then behave like a 9 speed.

    Similar to a Super 10.

When you're going from low range 4th to high range, 5th lo for example, shift high range and put in 5thlo. In my truck when the rpms get to about 1400 give or take, I push the splitter forward and let off the gas pedal momentarily and it will automatically shift to 5th hi now. Get up to say 1400 again, preselect 5lo but keeping the foot on the gas, until ready to shift to 6lo. Raise rpms again and push little splitter forward and let off gas again. Repeat all the way up the gears.

Downshifting- say I want to get off at the exit coming up. 65 miles per hour. I let off the fuel and let things slow down on their own to about 55 then pull the little splitter back to 8lo and give it a little bump on gas pedal, it automatically downshifts, and rpms raise up. This also helps slow the truck down. Apply brakes, at about 47 miles per hour, shift back to 8hi with the splitter, then downshift to 7hi, speed gets down to 40 or so, 7lo now bump gas pedal. When speed drops appropriately for 6th hi I would shift to there. Sometimes you don't have time to shift down through all the gears. Know your speeds for each gear hi and low.

Its pretty easy especially if u can drive a 10.there's actually 2 ways to shift properly. But check it out on YouTube.u shift 1234 button up 5 rang up/other button Rev and it will go in 6. shift neut rang down go in 7 Rev and it will change to 8...and so on and down

Shift is reverse or timing to speed and rpm.me personaly I shift in shift out and back in when I split my gears instead of revin.

So for the most part when driving a manual you don't even need to clutch? Except for starting, stopping, and backing? I'm a bit confused I thought it was required. I've never drove a stick though so when I start school next week it will be an entirely new driving experience.

That's not really true if you're basing this statement on one of the 13 speed operation videos above. When you see the clutch is not being used in shifts, this is when the driver is keeping the same hole but changing between overdrive and direct to move to next highest or lowest gear while in the "high range" with the upper splitter (used only with 13 and 18 speed transmission). But when changing holes, you need to learn to double clutch to get you through school and the road tests. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah I assumed we will need it for testing and school, but I meant after all that when out on the road solo.

You drive it just like a 9 speed but you split the the top end gears ... By splitting ... there will be a switch on the top left of the shifter.. when you get in 5th gear the switch will be in the back position.. Then when you shift you just flip the switch up and come off the accelerator and it shifts.. when you down shift do the same thing....

Sammy, just shift as a 9 speed. Once you master that, THEN use the red button!
