Honestly, I'd love to see 2600 on a regular basis. I wouldn't know what to do with 3700 miles...I gota get my butt over there before the economy takes another nosedive.

    jdrentzjr and Dinomite Thank this.

Come on over. I ran a 4100 mile week and should run good again this week. Mountains have been a challenge this week. Looking forward to getting back south. Like the miles out here but don't like the weather. Take care out there!

Did my interview on the 3rd. All good , going to start orientation on Jan 8th. I cant wait to get away from Shaffer. I had less than 1500 miles the last two weeks. Take Insurance out 401K,acc Ins,not much left to pay bllls. They can give me the oldest truck they got and I wont mind one bit. Been reading the posts here since Oct. A lot of good info,Thanks so much. Hope to meet some of you when I get there. Drive Safe

    Congratulations! And welcome.

Talked with Guillermo from HR last night while at the Sam's event. He said they had less than 10 spaces to fill at this time. Also said he knew there was a blog that was refering a lot of Crete drivers. He likes to hire them because Crete seems to have the same hiring standards as Poly. He also stated that after the first of the year there always are a few drivers who retire, so he expected some spaces to open then.

Rolled out of GP this afternoon and made it up to Norman without any problems with my new loaner truck. Actually runs pretty well and I guess they didn't remember to limit this one down to 68 mph:) Cold weather finally hitting the Midwest. Supposed to be 21 here in the morning and I doubt things are going to get much better as I head on up into northern Iowa.

Chemster, I've been there a couple of times. My GPS always had me turning right off the ramp just before the entrance to BJs. In actuality it's left. (I have the Garmin for cars though...) I believe it's highway 146 that you take in there. Then take exit 1 to Mass. 146A. At bottom of ramp, GO LEFT! Then right into the facility. Once inside they will give you a beeper at the guard shack, and allow you to stay there up to 12 hours before your appt. time. Big staging area. There's a restroom too! Then just before your appt time, they will send you the door number you need to back into on your beeper. After that walk your p/w into the receiving office and wait there til finished. Hope this helps :biggrin_25519:

Great update JD, thanks. I applied 29 Nov. Still nothing. I am an ex-Crete/Shaffer driver and in fact drove for both back when they were separate companies. They are not my current employer however. Lord give me the patience to wait in peace if and until I receive the call! Amen.

Partly because I'm lazy, could one of you please review the hometime policy?

Right now, I'm looking at staying put, partially because of a big family get-together next September for which I'll need about 10 days. Plan A is to stay at Crete through that time and use my vacation plus a few days (if they don't like it, tough). However, I'm getting some vibes that things in my little Crete world may be changing soon, and if it happens, I'm not optimistic about the prospects. Staying out 4 to 5 weeks to compensate is not an issue for me.

Many thanks for the informative posts as usual. Stay safe!
