More options for disgruntled Knight drivers who would like $$$ for their driving experience:
Just saw on TV, Canada (Edmonton) is recruiting American workers (w/clean criminal record) for the O&G industry with an avg salary there of $87K/yr.....avg winter hi-temp is 32 F so not all that cold! I know where I'd be if young & single... not a lifetime move change but a time to sock away some $$$......
Go North young man!

Average winter temperature is 32F>Maybe in someone's dreams
I left there a week ago and the mornings were -25C which translates to -13F and that's before wind chill.
And ps: 87K won't buy you anything in Edmonton, the economy is crazy and rentals (when you can find them) are sky high in price.
Average winter temp 32F>that's the funniest thing I ever heard. -
I loved edmonton.I use to take trailers up there and bobtail back.I might check into that

Climate
Aurora beyond Edmonton's downtown skyline
Edmonton has a humid continental climate (Köppen climate classification Dfb) with relatively low precipitation, and falls into the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone
The city has milder winters than either Regina or Winnipeg, both south of Edmonton.
Edmonton is a northern city, so there is no doubt Edmonton winters are a little long; however, most Edmontonians embrace the weather by bundling up and participating in winter activities. Snowboarding, downhill and cross-country skiing, hockey, and skating are all great activities to try out during the winter months. Or you can take in any number of family-friendly activities all winter long during the Winter Light Festival.
The average winter temperature is -15 C with highs reaching up to 0 C and colder temperatures of -34 occurring approximately 3-4 times per year. The fall and spring, however, are mild - the average temperature in October is 5.9 C and 4.9 C in April with moderate precipitation.
Summers are another story entirely. Summers in Edmonton are perfect for outdoor activities with temperatures averaging around 20 C and highs reaching into the high 30s. The summer sun sometimes seems to never set with daylight hours stretching as long as 17 hours!
The largest major industry is petrochemicals. The region is rich in oil and natural gas, which has given Edmonton the title of "Oil Capital of Canada". The potential oil supply from the region's tar sands is second only to Saudi Arabia's.

Edmonton is not a bad place and I ran up there many times. Clean with friendly people but it might average 32C in the summer but in the winter? hahahahahahaha.

Saw it again on FNC Special Report this evening, job recruiting all over the US, area is booming & needs 150,000 more 'skilled' ppl over the next couple of years..andbtw, the woman reporting said 'avg winter daily high-temp around freezing." (thats 0 C or 32 F)
-
i wish it was that warm lol, but i dont mind the temperature that much. I worked outside last week in a sweater and insulated jeans no problem.
-
Nate, you wear short pant until the temp drops below 0F.
-
Temp is 'relative.' I was in N. Montana when it got down to -48 F..college kids in CO start wearing shorts in the spring when the temp hits 32 F! I'm spoiled now living in AZ where 105 F is 'comfortable'...ha ha Just need a hat, cold drink and life is good!
