Bte the judgemental ridicule! Wow! Just because someone asked a.question about testing? You know if someone was freakin about a piss test... thats one thing, but a folical test will show everything and anything for a year. So maybe someone had a moment or two of weakness. That doesnt make em a."dope head" I guess then if you've had a beer or two that makes you an alcoholic! I've been reading posts on here for about a week and I sure see a lot of ridicule and sarcasm towards people.just looking for an answer to a question. A lot of this seems to come from long standing site members......

Yes you are right I'm judgemental. We all have families out here (you included). I don't want somebody who has occasional "lapses in judgement" in command of 80klbs of steel death. A beer or two once in awhile does not indicate irresponsibility. Illegal drug use (especially when done chronically) does. If the most important question that comes to mind when enquiring about a prospective employer is "What kind of drug test do they do?," that should indicate something like a little red flag or warning klaxon. Just for the record, the hair follicle test that USA gives measures 90 days prior to sampling. Thats an industry standard as required by federal law and insurance companies. If an individual has been using within the last 90 days then hes either been unemployed or putting the public at risk. If it was a period of unemployment, thats a SERIOUS lapse in judgement. The brief times in my life I've been unemployed, I found far more important things to spend my limited funds on than substances. If he was with another carrier then once again, see what I said above. We have enough ####### and bums working here that can't execute a simple task SOBER let alone adding those with a history of substance use/abuse to the mix. If that offends you, well I'm sorry. Its still America and you certainly have the right to get offended.

The only thing offensive, to me, is that you feel the need to elaborate that a chronic drug user behind the wheel of a large truck isn't smart. Thats just pure common sense anyway.

You're completely missing my point. The poster asked about urine/folical testing. Simple.question, simple answer. He didn't ask "Could you please give me your personal opinion and ASSUMPTION of me for asking this question?" You both jumped to a completely assumptive and speculative opinion of the individual based upon his question. Your personal opinion of this individual based soleley on your assumptiveness of.the question he asked is 100% irrelevant. Niether.of you actually answered his question with a direct unbiased approach. You simply jumped to your own conclusion. Then to reffer to him as a dopehead? Go back to "flippin burgers"? Wow Just an over sarcastic attitude.

No, hair folical testing, "as a standard" goes back 12 months minnimum.

All I am saying is that your assumptive, underinformed, opinionated conclusion isn't necessary. You don't know this individual. You don't even know 100% why he even asked the question... You just formed your own speculative conclusion and.judged someone based upon it. Thats just wrong.

Call me judgmental all you want. If someone is looking for a job, and the very first question they ask, which is usually the most important one, is about what kind of drug test they do. I don't want to hear about a momentary weakness. Did I used to smoke weed, yes. Back in high school. Then I grew up and got a job and a family. I have friends that still to this day smoke weed. For some reason I just never had that moment of weakness to join them. I know what's important. I have a wife and kids that will be on the highway next to the moment of weakness person. What's to say they won't have another moment of weakness while driving. I don't want my family or your family riding on the highway next 80k pounds of moment of weakness.

    Brodason,

First off I did answer his question. I said USA gives 100% urine and a certain percent follicle. I didn't judge anybody or assume anything. I said if you are clean you have nothing to worry about and if you've been using then this isn't the industry for you. As far as me being "opinionated and uninformed" goes....well. When I started here 1.5 years ago, that SPECIFIC question was asked about the length of measurement. Bill Roberts, orientation instructor stated that the company tested back 90 days. I also googled it last night and even the "head shop" sites stated that it was possible to test back up to 1 year but industry standard was 90 days.

Further, I was a unit drug control leader for 1 year in the Army meaning I conducted and tested EVERYBODY in a unit of 200 Soldiers. Then for 3 years as a recruiter I tested people on almost a daily basis. But I have no idea what I'm talking about. My opinion stands, if it's something that worries you, make the actions to get yourself right and come back. If not, come drive with us.

I have been hair tested. It only goes back 90 days. You make sure they only get 11/2 " of hair. That is all they are supposed to get. If you walk in there with a pony tail, and give some long strands. yes they can go out on a longer date. Hair testing is not DOT required. If you fail, they cannot tag it as a failed DOT drug test. It is only a company policy test. Some people have been in hospitals, taken meds for pain, etc. That is why most want to know if they perform hair tests. USA will pull you at random for hair tests. Out of the blue too. :biggrin_255:

I like pets but it will be a sad day if USA starts allowing them. Its bad enough to get a truck that used to be driven by a smoker, you can never get the stink completely out. Now I'm going to have to put up with animal messes too that don't get cleaned up?? There are just too many irresponsible drivers out there to allow this. I hope they don't.
