Yeah, but I only pay $50 a month for my health care. Considering everthing else that is covered, I am sure Reddaway (YRC) picks up some of it. I just found out that they don't pay us the extra 2 hours of holiday dispatch pay anymore if they send you out on a holiday. Can't wait for things to pick up again.

On the flip side of the coin, I also worked at a larger company that was staffed with over 600 people, and cost cutting was enforced at all levels. Even if it was at the expense of their prized workers that made everything happen. So yeah, I would have loved go be part of a group that protected my interest and kept my job environment safe, fair, and non-hostile.
One thing I would see as an outsider is that unions tend to take control away from the private owner of a company. Seeing how most companies are publicly traded, I guess I don't feel so bad. It is where you are based out of. Like I said, I am lucky to have my job.
Good insight though.Deadjester Thanks this. -
I guess the Reddaway terminals are different everywhere. I wasn't paying a dime for my health benefits for my whole family, which is something they did at Yellow when I worked there. I just figured it was the same at all Reddaway yards. However, some Reddaway yards are union, mine isn't though. Actually now that I think about it, 50 bucks a month is about what I was paying in union dues at Yellow. Think it was 54 to be exact. Still 50 a month for health benefits is good.

This thread was doing pretty good before the teamsters got here. Just like most of the union carriers.

I am with UPS Freight(union) and many drivers are unhappy with the union as am I. We had a driver who failed a random drug test and the union got his job back and we also have contract carriers hauling our freight and the union doesn't care. Anytime you call them with an issue they seem annoyed you are calling. Unions suck.
