how do we drop the air suspension when dropping a trailer?

    I have been noticing a lot of my 'colleagues' at Swift backing up their trailer, dumping their airbags then jumping out to lower the landing gear and leaving it an inch or two about the ground--- get this, to save time.... like a few extra cranks is going to take too long.

    so when highering or lowering the trailer when that does happen should i do it in low gear to make it easier for me? because man its heavy when doing it in high gear.

    I have to crank it in low gear... 1) I'm not strong enough when the trailer is loaded to crank it in high gear... But 2) it puts less strain on the landing gear itself... So less chance of breakage. I just do low gear though until there is no load on the landing gear... Then it high gear!!

    I backed up to a loaded trailer recently that was so low my tires were hitting. I had to dump the air bags, and put wood on the frame rails and air the bags up again then lower the landing gears 3 times I did that with more wood each time before I could get the trailer up high enough.

    When you drop the air suspension because a trailer is to low. Once you're underneath of it do you turn it back on to lift the trailer or do you hook it up first and then lift the air suspension?

    Depends. If you see the trailer raise up some when you back under it, go ahead and couple. But if you're too low to even lift the trailer at all, then just back under enough to not engage the kingpin. Then lift the trailer and couple.
