By the way this is not true at all. You do not turn wider with doubles, quite the opposite, They turn closer to the tracking of the tractor. You can actually use right turn lanes. The only advice I have is watch the rear trailer when you stop, make sure your brake adjustments are correct. The rear trailer likes to slide out into the lane beside you depending on the slope of the road. If it does just release and reapply the brakes as soon as you release it will come back in your lanes.

I see maxi flatbed B-trains pretty commonly in and around Portland. Usually lumber haulers. Never seen a freight company run that configuration tho. It's primarily for heavy haul I think.

Always make sure you have an out before getting off a main road, you dont want to break the set because you cant back out !

Figured you'd be ok. Like I said before, actual driving will become second nature fast once you get on the highway/interstate. Congrats on your new job.

Seriously... What he just said. Checking/judging the open space ahead of you makes A LOT of difference. And not just for accident avoidance. You have got to have a lot of room to turn around. Especially a Rockie set. Always leave yourself an out!

Yes and they are annoying at truck stops, especially when it's over crowded. I can hook the dolley to the front trailer and back it to the kite. It's hard but after practice you can do it. I only do that sometimes. When I worked at Conway they only had me do a pup. YRC had me do a 40' through the NYC(Bronx). Make sure you give those doubles the respect they need.

@cenutryclass they wrote you for hitting a dolley now??? Seems like they Re always finding excuses to write up accidents. I normally tap our dolleys as they are. Lot heavier than yours and can't lift it.

Really? Even with a Rocky set? I dunno, but I always turn wider just in case.

as of next year, if you get caught doing it, it will be a preventable accident...i swear you get written up if you breathe too hard.

I actually just started pulling doubles about a week ago, with no advice or training too. Nice to know I'm not the only one! I'm starting to get the hang of it a bit, but holy crap is it different than flatbed, van, and machinery trailers! Good luck to you and hope you don't mind me stealing some of this advice directed at you :)
